Update on predator 3500

Running 2 parallel and so far better than advertised. Quieter than the Honda 3000 and seems to outperform it in every way. Use it daily and so far only have 100 hours on each. Just handled 48 amps and pushed a commercial prep cooler, 2 Electric 1500 watt steam tables, space heater, an electric steam kettle, electric griddle, and a commercial smoker with no problems or overload warning.
I don’t get it. My generac 8000 running watt couldn’t handle half that. It was only a 3O amp So that’s probably why. I’m so impressed and curious about how long it will last.
Some here were interested so hope this helps.

Super! I've had the same Predator about 4 months. Haven't had the opportunity to use yet. Did try in on the 15k RV ac for a few hours and did fine. Very nice generator. Like that you can pair them..

There is another coupon out there for $429.00, I just bought two. The reviews say that this is a clone of the Honda eu2000 and all the parts are exchangeable between the two. The pairing kit is 47.00 dollars extra. Amazon has them for 669.00 each, this is a steal imo

I here that. Plus the overall size for storing it. That's why I went with this Amazon 3500 watt Genny from Canada. It was $490 to my door but I think they screwed up on the price because I see now they want $741. [emoji79]

The DW hates our load Honda 6500 (contractor) generator, but approved of the Predator 3500 because of the 58 dB rating. However, she said ‘I can still hear it’. So, put it in the back of our 2016 Ram 2500... ‘I can still hear it’. Geesh!

So, bought a Ridgid 48R-OS contractor box, put the Predator in the box, and put THAT in the back of the truck. Added an exhaust cutout and an extension to the exhaust, and:

With the lid of the box mostly closed (2x4 propping the top open), my dB measurement from 23 feet away ( same distance that they use on the specs ), I get about 50~56 dB (quiet conversation ).

DW is happy!

When I get home from my trip, I’ll use the pre-existing cut out on the back of that Ridgid as my air intake. Then I won’t need the 2 x 4 anymore.

Look up a thread called best generator/ invertor, it was posted yesterday, look for 5 pickers post, you need to write the coupon code under the bar code when you order on line, it is 8 digest. If you can't find it let me know and I will post the # . The cost then is 429.00.

Wobbles that is for the 2000 unit, not the 3500.

Sounds like good idea for sound control, but I would be nervous that you may not be getting sufficient air for cooling and may risk over-heating. Now, if it were water cooled that would be a different story.

What did you wind up using for a parallel cable/kit?

Right. That’s my next concern also. Yesterday, I ran it with the 2x4 gap for 45 minutes in 65 degrees F. weather. My thermometer inside the Ridgid box never exceeded 78 degrees F. .

If just providing ‘passive’ air openings is not sufficient to control interior box temperature, I will install powered intake fans on the right side, plugged into the generator.
