Upholstery self destructing

Rig: 2016 FRBlueRidge #3780
Faux upholstery on all four units: two recliners and two hideAa-beds.
Unit occupied 4-5months/yr. Max 2-3adult occupants.
Surface of upholstery is peeling off even in areas not exposed to sun or body fluids (skin oil or perspiration)
Is anyone else experiencing this dilemma?
What’s the fix?
Does FR have any sympathy for this failure?
Certainly this isn’t acceptable life expectancy. (?)
Ideas? thoughts?

If you do a Forum search, this has been a RV Industry-wide issue, not just Forest River.
The furniture suppliers to the RV industry, have been at fault.

To your highlighted question: I'd guess about 70% of us have posted about it. Many others just paid someone to reupholster their furniture.

We're having our jack knife sofa and vinyl headboard recovered right now. The vinyl was turning to dust. We probably could have replaced it with a new one cheaper than having it recovered, but we wanted better quality materials than 'off the shelf.'

We had our jack knife sofa recovered. Much nicer material than the original. Its surface was flaking off. It cost an arm and leg to get it done. Never again!

The two recliners were flaking off as well. They are now in the trash. The new chairs are of much better quality and more comfortable. They were acquired from RecPro for much less than the cost of recovering.

It's all the cheapest of the cheap. Mine has lasted a year and I'm super surprised! You either have to use a slip cover, throw cover, pay out the ears to re-cover or replace.

All the folks that I know that have experienced this flaking & peeling have opted for a $50 slip cover to cover it up and forget about it.

That is one of the lower cost options for sure! I set aside some money to have mine recovered when the time comes because I hate the look of those covers. I really thought it would start immediately as we camp with at least 3 dogs, very often 5! Guess I'll be able to make another dime on interest while I wait LOL.
