Valterra sewer hose tube

Wanted to add a 2nd sewer hose storage tube to my R-Pod 178. Ordered via Amazon - only three or four lengths to order, so ordered one I thought would fit. The tube that came is 2-5/8" longer than the original equipment tube on the R-Pod - both made by Valterra! Cannot seem to remove the end caps on the new tube so I can cut it to length. Guess FR can order whatever length they want when they order 1000 of them!

The length won't matter if you can't get the end caps off. Can you get replacements?

It took a month to get the tube via Amazon - I suspect there are so many RV's being made that Valterra is struggling to keep up with demand. The end caps appear to be glued to the tube.

Do you have to have that brand? I went to Lowes and purchased 5" pvc fence post. Strapped to underside of bumper. U use 1/4x 6 stainless bolt on both ends with 2 stainless washers and nylon locknut.

valterra

You'e one smart cookie! NO, I don't have to have Valterra - but I didn't think about using Lowes for PVC pipe. That would have been a lot cheaper! End caps could be rigged, I guess, with a few holes drilled into them for air.

I have end cap on one end only. 8 short screws. 6 inch screw as noted on other end. Makes access much easier and provides plenty of air. I think I can compress 20 ft of hose into the tube. Be sure hises are firmly connected otherwise you will have to go fish. I also have second tube strapped to undercarrige.

I think you meant the brackets rather than the end caps are not removable. The end caps must be able to be removed in order to put the hose in. Valterra actually does make an adjustable length hose tube (50-90”). I chose this brand since I was able to get all parts and hardware delivered to my door for close to the same price as the DIY PVC option.

With that 5" plastic fencepost, one end cap glued, the other removable/hinged.

Then you can use a piece of 4" sewer pipe, cut it in half lengthwise and use it as a slide out tray to slip your sewer pipe into and out of that fence post that is secured beneath your camper

Lowes sells 5 inch vynal rain gutter that fits nicely inside the fence post. Works for me.

I did the same thing. We fit two 10' hoses, a 45 elbow, and the 90 for the sewer opening with room to spare.

I mounted two 5" fence post sleeves under my trailer - actually they run under the FW tank, so they may give a bit of extra support to the tank. I used beam clamps to connect to my frame without drilling holes or attaching self tapping screws. The beam clamps accept standard threaded rod for connecting. I also put a vinyl u-shape gutter inside to hold things. The gutter can be used as a support for the sewer hose when needed.
Here's what I mean by a beam clamp: https://www.menards.com/main/plumbin...8843057&ipos=6
5" sleeve is large enough to hold the hose, elbow, and other related parts - nice not having any of that IN the trailer.
