Vertically Challenged Spouse Step

Need some serious help! 4ft 11 in wife has trouble getting from ground to seat in F-350! Has anyone attached a small step below the main running board steps to help....tired of getting out step stool every time we load!

I have not seen a factory solution for that. My wife’s sister uses a milk crate with a rope tied to it so she can pull it up into the truck. I have it on video. Way too funny...

Automatic running boards drop lower than regular ones do. They are the #1 thing I miss about my King Ranch over the Lariat I have now.

I agree with this 100%! They aren't cheap but I had the Amp research brand which allowed my 70+ year old, 4'8" mom to get in and out of my truck with ease. It's because they drop down to a mid way height like a regular step. Running boards and nerf bars sit too high to be useful.

Welcome to the forum.

I don't know your financial situation and how far you are willing to take it, www.Kelderman.com manufacturers air systems that allow you raise and lower the truck at the push of a button.

We’ve got the same problem. We got a folding plastic step stool but it needs a leash to pull it up into the truck.

Part of the problem is that she can’t reach the grab handle when standing on the ground. There’s nothing to grab to help pull her pull herself up.

Still looking for a solution that doesn’t involve our home equity line of credit.

There are many different types of nerf bars and bolt on steps. Some are just for looks, and some provide lower steps than others. My wife's family are all short (5'4" to 4'11") and they can all get in our truck using the nerf steps.

I would suggest using Google, or go to truck accessory shop to see all the options.

We use a metal step stool that has a long handle on it. Most medical supply places sell them and so does amazon and walmart.

I also use a folding plastic step stool, with a "leash" on it. I can't haul my butt into the seat due to back problems and the step stool helps a great deal. That way, I can also use it when I have to ride in the back seat.

5'3" daughter, 6" lifted Excursion

My daughter is 5'3" and couldn't get into my 6" lifted excursion. I install AMP research retractable steps. They go down when the door opens, and up out of site when the door closes. Had them for several years and are awesome.

Step

Please do not use a milk.crate. First they are not safe . More importantly these belong to the dairy whose name is on it and if you take one of these you sre stealling (and keeping the cost of dairy products high) They are not a diisposable item

You do realize you can buy 'milk crates' from several sources right? Just Google it. As far as safety, it depends on what crate you buy and how much you weigh

As a hand hold you could use a car cane. It is a handle that slips into the latch on the door frame and will give lots of support to pull yourself up into the truck.

Yep. I did some automation work for an injection molding company that made them back in like 2003. When all was said and done, i asked how i could get a couple. Plant manager asked how many. I jokinly said as many as you want to give me. That day i found out you can carry 62 of them in the 8' bed of a pickup before you need tie downs. And another 8 in the back seat.

I gave a bunch away, but i probably still have 25 or 30 of them.

Installed retractable running boards on 2013 GMC and they work great for both of us.
Have had to go back to two step setup since DWs latest back surgery 3 months ago.
Sometimes you have to do whatever it takes to keep moving and go camping. Retractable running boards do drop down about 2 inches lower than stationery ones that came or truck when I purchased it.

Another vote for AMP boards, my wife's about the same height as yours. I have them on a 2015 Chevrolet High Country 2500 Crew cab Duramax with Def delete.I installed the ones for the 2500 gasser since I removed the DEF tank. They work Great!
