Walkie Talkies

Hello all, I'm looking to pick up a pair or inexpensive walkie talkies to use around the campground. I don't need anything fancy or super long range. It's so i have a way to keep in touch with my kids while there out playing and to use while backing in and parking. I was looking at something like the Motorola T100 or the Retevis RT628. Does anyone have any experience with these or can recommend something similar? Will i have a problem with interference? thanks in advance for your help.

Since you mentioned "kids", look for something water proof/resistant. Things seem to get left outside and in the morning you may have some heavy dew.

I like Midland products.

I've had Midland and Motorola in the past and no problems with either one. Cobra and Uniden are also known brands, among others. Go to Amazon and read the reviews. They are generally helpful. Nowadays most of these radios are probably coming out of very similar factories (if not the same) from a far away land across the sea.

Agree with brands mentioned above. Also, almost all have many channels, so you can switch if one channel has interference. Many also take regular batteries if the rechargeable ones get low.

Yes, with this caveat... If you have young ones, go with the cheapest as none are 'kid abuse' friendly. My unitys have a belt clip on each one but they look like the wouldn't survive much kid abuse.... Like dropping or submerging or getting stepped on.

Yea if for the kids go for the ones that are waterproof or at least rubberized exterior to help with drops.
