Water heater draining

I have a Salem hemisphere hyper lyte. Was wondering if I should drain my water heater when it it not going go be used for a few weeks

I think this is the third or 4th similar thread I have seen in the past few weeks. The last one did not go well. I am going to stay out of this one, other then to say you are going to get lots of different answers and its all personal opinion and nothing is right or wrong.

We do. After a few weeks the water really starts to stink. Whether or not the smell is a result of harmful bacteria is up for debate, but the stink alone is reason to do it for us.

Lots of prior discussion on this topic.

For us, once filled at the start of the season, we never drain it.

Water quality is a HUGE factor.

Also, if you do decide to drain it... do not use the low point drains to do so. It will suck crud from the tank into the plumbing lines where some of it will remain and be distributed into your faucets and valves on repressurization.
