Water Hose

Does anyone have a solution for getting rid of the awful taste of the water from a new hose? We've had the hose for 10 months and used it on 8-10 trips. Our water usage is fairly light but it would be nice to not have the taste and odor from the hose every time we use the water! The hose is a standard potable water for RV or Marine use hose.

Are you sure it is the hose and not your water system?

I'm sure it is the hose. We have a popup and don't run the water thru the tank. It is the same when we get water from a Wye at the trailer connection as well..

Use it more at your house. Been my experience the more and faster the use of the hose the early the smell will go away.

I guess I've been lucky. I've never gotten a potable water hose that had any taste even when new.

Maybe you got a mislabeled vinyl hose.
What does it taste like?
What color is the hose?

^^X2^^

Instead of spending money on filters/odor eliminators, throw it away (assuming you can't return after 10 months) and buy one somewhere else.

I've probably had 10 of these hoses over the years and never had one make the water smell or taste. They are potable hoses. If you can't drink or cook using it... time to get something else.

I agree with several posts above. I've never had a white potable water hose that left a bad taste.

When we bought a 5 year old hybrid camper a few years ago. We had 3 different hoses all had a plastic type taste and smell. After sanatizing the water system we discovered it was the hoses. We sanatized them just like the water system and smell and taste were gone. I let the solution set for alittle over 24 hours. It did the trick for me.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'll try a hose upgrade. The cost and aggrevation of messing with the one we have doesn't seem wirth it!

We take bottle water with us and gallon jugs from Walmart. We never drink campground water. I use a Camco water hose from Walmart, it is blue in color and works better than the white hose

In what way(s) does it work better than white? I'm interested.

It is a little easier to get in plastic box, when it's cold outside its a little easier to work with. The fittings seem to work more better than the white one does. Plus the white ones seem to get dirty more. I change my water hoses but the white tend to get corroded more. Just my two cents

I use an in line water filter and the water tastes better than what comes out of my faucet at home.

However, we use a filter at the hose bib. No odors.
We carry water from home for drinking.

We drink bottled water, I will go ahead and make coffee from the campground water if it's clear.

When I was a kid I'd drink straight from the creek or pull a bucket up out of the well and drink it. I guess my standards have risen.

We have never had a problem with hose smell but we have had some funky camp water. We sanitize the system and I keep some water in the tank for emergency but we never drink or cook with camp water.
Also when I add to my tank I use one of my potable hoses
It takes an extra couple minutes but I want that tank water to be safe if I need it

I threw all those away.

I have two of these: One longer than the other. BEST investment I have made for the camper.
