The anode rod is a metal rod installed in Suburban WH that is designed to sacrifice itself during electrolysis rather than damage the WH tank and fittings. Depending on the quality of the water, it can last a season or two or as little as less than a season. it is a good idea to remove it every fall when winterizing and replace it as necessary. Removing it annually also keeps the threads from seizing up.

Question Another water quality question

Greetings all! We are new to Rving and recently purchased a Rockwood 8299BS. In our home we drink RO water and are a bit concerned about drinking or cooking with water that has not been "purified" by removing the fluoride, lead, etc from the water. What does everyone use/suggest? We thought about purchasing a tabletop water purifier, buying water in 5 gal jugs, etc.

After you have sanitized the complete system,,, replaced the filter cartridge,,, filled with filtered fresh water,,, there is a product you can add to the water called TastePure !!!
I believe most Walmarts have it in their RV isle !!!
Some guys even add a little Chlorine to the water,,,
but I do not remember how much they use ???
I also drain our complete system after every trip,,, including the W/H !!!
