The wet bay is the area in the basement where all the water connections to the RV are. City water, black tank flush, outside shower connection. On many models this area is isolated from the rest of the basement by walls so as it will contain any water spillage.

Wet bay is where your water filter and all those hoses comes together from pump, city water are, especially in an unheated exterior accessible compartment. It's susceptible to freeze damage and must be monitored/drained/or protected with a heat source (I use a tiny Sharper Image thermostat controlled heater.

It's the compartment with the waterworks - fill valve, outdoor shower, filter, etc. It's the first area that would freeze on my rig.

That's a fancy term for "plumbing connections".

Never heard it called a wet bay before and also didn't know campers have basements. Have owned campers 40 years. Thanks

Being only concerned about temps I use a LaCrosse unit with 3 remote sensors. I put 1 on top of one of the tires out of the rain for ext temp, 1 in the fridge and 1 in the cooler used for drinks.

We have a cheap ($29), Acurite System that provides date/time, indoor/outdoor temps and relative humidity respectively. We don't profess to be meteorologists. For weather updates such as storms/wildfires we use our FRS & GMRS radios set to the NOAA channel.

I have an Ambient weather station at home and love it. However, like others mentioned I don't want to hassle with setting something like that up for camping so I just have an old ThermoPro (antique version of what RedRover showed). It lives in the drawer until we're set up then the main unit goes on the "entertainment center" cabinet top and the remote unit goes under some shade on our little roll up table outside. It satisfies my weather junky fix

Our local news/weather stations usually offer a discount on weather alert radios. In Michigan, it's getting to be tornado/ spring storm season.

I’ve had several weather stations from different companies over the years and I’ve found Acurite or Lacrosse as good as any, contrary to what some are saying on here.
Also Acurite can be calibrated, at least the ones I bought.
They have to be checked periodically and corrected.
Unless you buy a professional one and pay many more dollars than I want to pay, my last one was 280.00 CDN.
I don’t really want to know the weather that accurately, having said that, my last Acurite is right more often than the weatherman, probably doesn’t surprise most people!
My motorhome has a Lacrosse unit with sensor on rear ladder

I have an Accurite and for the winter I put the remote sensor in the basement the farthest point away from the heated area. This also happens to be where they ran the H/C lines for the washer hookup. Make sure the temp stays up in that far corner.
My wet bay is right next to the H/W heater and then next to that is the furnace.
I cut a length of R11 fiberglass insulation the full height of the bay. Then just keep it right at the opening of the door so all the water lines are behind it.
This winter when pulling the dump handles you could feel the warm air behind that insulation. So, no worries.

I lay it on top of a tire under the slide-out, there it's outside but protected from rain, direct sunlight or other things that might damage it or give a false reading, ....

I put my outside sensor IN the wet bay compartment. On winter afternoons, I monitor that sensor and if the temp dips below ~ 36F, I switch on a drop light that has a 100W old school incandescent bulb. Said bulb provides enough heat to prevent freezing in the wet bay.

Pretty sure we have an Accurite. Keep the remote sensor in the shallow bay above the propane tank.
Checked it a few times after first getting it and the temps were always within 1°-2° of being outside the passenger door.

We bought this one here and I love it. I put the sensor on the picnic table and when we pack up I remember to take it then. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1

Many motor homes, TT’s and 5th wheels have a plastic lined compartment outside the rig that houses all the domestic water connections and may include a shower connection.

For me this weather stations stuff is an addiction. Have stations at Work, home and at camp. Ambient (ws-2000 / ws-2902a) and prefer the big brother Ecowitt (HP2552) that can use any Fine Offset sensors.
Can also keep an eye on my beer temp while away.

I have two mounting methods for my outdoor temp, humidity and windspeed head. Both involve the same 8' piece of 3/4" metallic electrical conduit. (Taller would be better but 8' fits in the basement storage area.)
Method 1) clamp my "custom" plywood template (board with a 3/4" hole near one end of it) to a campsite fence rail if available or to one corner of the campsite picnic table and slide the pole through the hole to anchor the middle. Drive a round wooden stake into the ground in line with the hole in the plywood and slip the conduit over it to anchor the bottom. Adjust the position of the plywood as needed so the pole is vertical. Done.
Method 2) If method 1 doesn't work for lack of a fence or picnic table (or the ground is all paved around the picnic table and there's no way to drive in my wooden stake) slide the metallic conduit pole into the slightly larger rigid plastic conduit I've "permanently" fastened to one side of the roof access ladder with two stainless steel plastic-pipe clamps. (Poor man's flag buddy knockoff) I prefer method 1 because method 2 involves having to climb the ladder to insert and remove the metallic conduit. Been using this for seven years. Almost idiot proof unless I fall off the ladder some day.

I think of those "vehicle on shoulder" reports as potentially meaning "activity on shoulder". I wish they would report which side so that I could proactively change lanes away from pedestrians, tow truck drivers, aid vehicles, etc

I'm impressed somebody knows about the "move over" laws most states have! I just drove I-80 from NJ to Ohio and back, it amazed me how many drivers completely disregarded this, even with plenty of room to change lanes and good forward view to see the disabled or stopped vehicle on the shoulder.
