Well I guess this is goodbye.

It's been a great run here and I have enjoyed my stay but the time has come to move on.

So long to the friends I have made here. Hopefully we will meet around a campfire and a good beer in the future.

Happy camping all.

Be well, be safe.

Ed

What the heck is going on around here?

Ed, please reconsider as you're a great asset on the site.

Ed, sorry to see you go. As I mentioned in my PM to you, I simply do not feel comfortable having team members on our team here who are also moderators or admins on a site which has stolen our member data and has been soliciting our members via email. Here is the PM exchange so the members can see for themselves:

At this point you need to choose, so please let me know if you are planning to stay a mod over on that forum so I can change your account here. It's nothing personal against you, I just don't work that way.

Thanks,

Andy
I was never intending to drive you away from our community, just drawing the line in the sand when it comes to our team. I don't want to have any conflicts of interest on our team and if you remained a mod on both sites it would have been awkward and hard to move forward in a positive and productive manner if certain topics came up.

As you saw, Kim has even stated he's not going to work on that forum after learning about the unethical issues that have taken place. I was really hoping you were going to choose to stay here and continue to lead this community.

I am sorry you felt that you have to leave and I hope you will come back and join us again when the dust settles. Happy trails...

This is all crazy. People who have helped to make this forum as great as it is are leaving.

Ed, good luck to you. I, for one, will miss reading your post.

Ed, I know that asking you to choose which team you wanted to be on put you in an awkward position. For that I am sorry. I hope you can also look at this from my perspective.

I have invested a substantial amount in this community and nearly a decade of blood & sweat invested in my small business. When I found out a member of our staff had stolen our users personal information and was sending them emails to join a new forum where other staff members (like yourself) are also mods/admins, I have to find out what side of the fence they are on. We are working to protect all our members personal info and to that end simply cannot risk any further issue.

If your choice is to leave this community simply because I wanted to know if you were loyal to this community then that's your decision. I can honestly say you will be deeply missed. After the dust settles I hope you will return and join us again here on FRF.

Just like Kim's goodbye thread, I am going to close this discussion until I we have some time to get organized and move forward in a productive manner.

For those of you who are just reading about this drama, please see this post for more details of what's going on.
