West coast trailer models, why?

I notice some brands of TT and 5tw have models for the west coast.
What is the difference?
Codes and regulations?

From what I’ve seen through limited research, the west coast trailers are normally bigger (longer) and have higher capacity holding tanks. And I think they have some normally added extra options that come standard (like cold weather packages).

I agree. In the West, there is a lot of boondocking. Dirt road suspension is a plus. Larger tanks help. There can be frost any time in the mountains. AC is not so important. Cold weather is an issue a lot of the time.

The biggest difference I've seen is much larger holding tanks. The Cougar 24SABWE (WE being Western Edition) has fresh/gray/black capacities of 60/76/38, whereas the eastern edition had 60/30/30. Apparently there isn't a whole lot of boondocking or dry camping east of the Mississippi.
