What accessory do you wish you had the dealer install?

Our trailer should be coming in shortly. We are requesting a ladder and kitchen water filter be installed by the dealer.

I just want to make sure we're not missing anything. Are there any accessories you wish you had installed by the dealer when you purchased your RV?

I wouldn’t let a dealer install anything on my RV. But, I spent a few months installing many modifications and design improvements myself, things like dinette table top extension, step to make it easier to get in the bed, hinged door covering a slot cut in the bed base to able to view fresh water tank level, EMS, shelves in cabinets, 2 gallon accumulator tank, dimmer switches on all lights, travel lockdown bolt for sliding bathroom door, sound system subwoofer, roof vent covers, etc.

I've got the slide toppers being installed by the manufacturer.

Not necessarily dealer installed but TPMS.

Some newer units are coming factory equipped.
It has been my 1st go to accessory on my last two R/Vs.

Next on the list is a 2nd battery.

I'll second caution of dealer installed things like ladders... make SURE they know what they are doing!

I've heard, but can't say for sure, that units that have ladders installed at the factory also have extra bracing installed. Something to look into before you have that done.

I'm with others, don't let a dealer install anything. Use it awhile and you will figure out what extras you want/need. Then either do it yourself or get an independent service only RV shop to install.

TPMS is a great add-on. You can get in your rig anytime and see if the tire air pressure is OK on all your tires and also if one of your duel tires goes flat while driving or from a road hazard. Although TST is expensive, it is rated the highest. Consider the damage a shreading tires could do to your rig. The cost of TST is nothing compared $2-5,000 damage otherwise from flat tires tearing up everything. Consider the cost of the other tire on that axel that you should replace too since the other tire is now overloaded and damaged.

Covers over the roof vents so they can be open in rainy weather.

Also, I would make sure the fan in the bathroom vent is not some crappy thing that often comes from the factory. I'd spring for a Fantastic Fan, Maxxair or something like that. Quiet, effective and good quality. Well worth the extra money.

Battery cutoff switch: some come without it.

Oxygenics Fury shower head. Buy it and install it yourself.

Ladder Install

Be careful installing a ladder after the trailer has been delivered to the dealer.

My trailer did not come with one. After looking at the warranty, it states that "any trailer that did not come from the factory with a ladder does not have a full walk on roof". Just be aware of that if you install a ladder expecting to be able to walk on the roof.

The only thing I wish I'd had the dealer install was a battery cutoff on my Freedom Express. My KZ didn't come from the factory with one, so I did have the dealer install one. I have the parts for the FE and will install next spring.

A TV antenna. I must have the one of the only RVs (last 20 years anyway) that doesn’t have one.

TV Antenna

For a TV antenna, I would get this:

King OmniGo

https://www.amazon.com/KING-OA1501-P...66412774&psc=1

It outperforms the antenna on my trailer for local HD signals

Kitchen exhaust to outside vs. recirculate inside.

Fantastic fan (or similar) in kitchen area.

It isn’t true that if there is no ladder the roof isn’t walkable. My last tt had no ladder, but the roof was walkable. My current tt has an optionally factory installed ladder, and there is no way it has a different roof than the same model without the optional ladder.

'm with you! If the factory didn't install it on my trailer I installed it myself.

I visited the shop at my Dealer. Nuff said.
