Headed out to the desert this weekend. A little boondocking and some quad riding.

We have a few trips planned for the new truck and trailer this year:
Fairmont, BC for the May long weekend
Wasa Lake BC in early June for the triathlons
Kimberley BC for the Canada Day long weekend
Jasper National Partk for a week in July
Montana for a week in July - not sure where yet
Oregon for 2 weeks in August - still looking for key places to go
At least 1 long weekend at Cypress Hills, not sure when

The kids are totally excited! I have to admit, I can hardly wait either!

Waiting for the snow to melt...

Planning a 2 week trip but we are intimidated with driving over 1 day, not sure if it would be safe to stop at a walmart or other quick overnight stop. There are two of us women and 3 little dogs. Of course, no one would know to look at the big Ram
We are thinking about somewhere on the coast of Maine or Perce or anywhere down east but again, hesitant with the drive.
Is it possible to stop over in a campgroind and pay for the night but not un-hitch? Just park and sleep?
Walmart lots are well lit check in with the manager and make sure it's ok to park. You can stay overnight at campgrounds without unhooking as long as you can fit both camper and truck on the site

Hello

I am wondering where you stay when you are in Gatlinburg?
And, is the Pancake Pantry still there?

Update to post #18 on this topic--Lake Texoma for a long Easter weekend; a June trip down through Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee; a trip to Branson in April but we'll have to see how they recover from the storms last night, plus what was in my original post. So far--30 nights reserved at these various places and so far July and August are wide open so more to come!

We usually stay at either of these:

Right outside of Gatlinburg, about 13 miles, Adventers Bound Campground (Crazy Horse).

Also Great Smoky Mountain Jellystone™ Camp-Resort. They are about 5 miles further than Crazy Horse.

If I am thinking of the same place yes I believe the Pancake Pantry is still there. But they now have a Flapjack's Pancake Cabin with is great.

Sounds like you really like Gatlinburg. We visit the area a lot but usually stay at Tree Top Resort on roaring fork. Our plans are just starting. So far Derby Day we will be at the Ky Horse Park in Lexington. In June we will attend the Good Sam Rally in Louisville. In August we are looking forward to attending the Frog rally. We are hoping to be out at least 12 times this year.

Gatlinburg: It helps alot that I live only 45 minutes away! DH works weekends so being close lets him join us at least the last day we camp.

At least. 2 long weekends a month spent exploring Fishing Club properties with the family.

A week on the Crooked River without the women folk in May

August we have the yearly pig roast on my property and have up to a dozen trailers stacked in the orchard and multiple tenters dotted along the creek

A week in western MT for the annual guys fishing trip in Sept

Try to stay employed and get house chores done in between.

So far at least one trip per month from April to september. Mostly local to Mohican area in Ohio but I'm planning out first "long haul" to Pittsburgh area around June.

Camping plans: First get out of the driveway, then to a local state park campground. The next trip after that will be a little further down to the road to another state park or Army Corps campground. Slowly venturing out into the world and getting used to our TT. Hope to be able to break the force field one day...

After reading the preceding posts, good to see everyone out and enjoying our country, the great sites, and meeting new people. Someone asked me why I enjoyed camping...answer was, just getting out, kicking back, and just taking it easy.
