What did we forget to bring camping

I am going camping and i am trying to remember every thing that i should pack. I know i will forget something, And the thing is, it will be something simple that gets over looked, I am sure everybody as forgotten something, so let me know, So after this trip I will you know what i forget lol

We made a list long before we took our first trip and still left hair brushes and tooth brushes on the kitchen counter-top. Thankfully we were only about 30 minutes away. You may want to try camping as close to home for your shakedown trip or even in your driveway. When all else fails at least know where the closest WalMart is. Good luck and enjoy your camper.

That's exactly what we do each year. We plan a couple of "test runs" to get the dust out and to retrain ourselves to remember what we need or should have when we go. Before long, you'll have your checklist with most of it already stored in the unit and the only thing you'll need to pack is food, clothes, person stuff (toothbrushes, etc) and then anything you use up while you're out, like papertowels, napkins, tp, etc...

Most important piece...scratch tablet and a pen or pencil. Nothing worse then getting out there and then having to hunt down something to write with and something to write on. Good luck

I have a file called "Patti's dorky camping list" because everyone laughs at me. But boy, we rarely forget any essentials any more! It took a couple iterations to get it complete and then with the new camper this year, i made some changes (since i have more storage).

Honestly, i figure anything other than my contacts and glasses, and daughter's favorite blanket, we can go buy at the store if it's that critical.

We do the "dry run" at the local RV park two weeks before every season....... best $32.00 we spend all year. The Camping World, Home Depot and WalMart Supercenter are just up the road, so the wife and make up the list and divide-and-conquer.

I forgot extention cords,batteries for the remotes and discovered my concertcrap stereo quit again this be the third one since i bought it in 2007

The first thing is to remember where you put the keys to the camper before you pull off, I am not speaking from experience, but I believe in Murphy's Law. One thing about camping In an RV, it is your second home and you will fine that most of what you have in your home will be the same in an RV but in a smaller quantities except for the SHOES, I wear one pair but my wife has at least two pair at the door of the camper and more in the bedroom.

My wife and I spent the first summer that we owned the rig outfitting it with everything we need for camping. Other than clothes and perishable food, everything stays in the rig year round. Besides, I enjoy camping so much if I don't have something I figure that I didn't really need it anyway.

I agree the little writing pad and pen is important.
We use that to write down things we want to bring next time or
remind us of things that need attention.

We also have a camping list that is on our computer desktop.
B 4 each trip we print that and it lays on the kitchen counter
to get each item scratched off as it's loaded or checked.

Our list is much shorter than it used to be when we
tent camped because then we had to bring everything!
Now many items are left in the trailer such as extension
cords and hoses and folding chairs etc....
ANYTHING you need to load or check each trip needs
to be on a list!!

Tools. Dont forget to bring tools. Me being the kind of guy who works with mechanical things in my job and my hobbies I never forget to bring lots of tools. Things break so I bring lots of tools. Last summer we were camping in Virginia and the folks next to us had a nice boat. Problem was one of the freeze plugs on the inboard motor rusted through and had to be replaced. Me to the rescue. Installed new freeze plug and had it fixed in about an hour. You should have an adequate amount of tools. Sears sells really great kits for under $200.00. Just my opinion.

I have never heard the term freeze plugs before, up here we call them frost plugs, and when i was mechanics school they were called welch plugs. On our second camping trip i forgot to bring my axe that i just bought, funny thing is that i didn't need because it snowed that weekend. And i always brings tools maybe too many ,,well that what my wife says LOL

We mounted a white board inside the door, so that when we discover something we "should" have brought we can jot it down and add it when we get home...otherwise, for those things we "must" have and forgot, there is Wal-Mart...and then it stays IN the trailer...
