Campsite love/hate
Of course, when you do have a love/hate issue with the campground you go on line eventually and post an appropriate review, right? That's how we all "fix" the bad things and share the good things.

I have a dear friend who has camped for years and suffers from arthritis and is now limited to a golfcart. Without it she couldn’t camp, an activity she loves.

I hate it when the state parks allow someone to set up an empty pup tent and call it occupied, reserving all of the nice sites for the locals on weekends (which is 5 days away.)

As a seasonal, I don't think that's necessarily true. I'll wave and say hello if they happen to pass by my site or if I pass by theirs. Many times I've offered and given help and advice to weekenders as well.
Even before we became seasonal at the CG we are currently at we found more than a few friendly seasonal campers that we stopped and talked to as we tried to gauge our interest in the CG.
The only ones we don't like are the same ones you don't like. The ones that don't follow the rules and cause problems for everyone else.

What we didn't Like:
1. Having made reservations for a 3 month stay at a Florida RV resort, we arrived a night early. They accommodated us with a site that was sooo tight, we couldn't open the slides without infringing on the neighbors site. Charge for one night? $68.00.
2. Attending a clubhouse dinner dance, we found that the great majority of attendees were French Canadians speaking French. We felt like foreigners in our own country. A group of these folks approached the resort management asking for specific days they could have exclusive use of the pool. The management refused.
What we liked:
1.There was an older section and newer section to the park. When the new section was developed, the country required the sites to be much larger. We had one of the sites in the newer section with decent neighbors.
2. At the end of the first month, DW and I decided that this style of camping was not for us. We spent a lot of time in the toad searching for a mobile home in the area and found what we were looking for. Returned home after 3 months, sold the MH, spent last winter in the mobile home park and lovin' it--really lovin' it.
What we miss most: Boon docking with the kids growing up. When we bought the new MH, we took a trip to where we camped on our honeymoon. Our son and DIL came along. It was a great time and our DIL's first time camping in a MH. They are still bugging us to get back into it. Well, never say never!

I hate hearing anyone else's music, whether it's to my taste or not. (more than likely, it is not)
I can't stand people who have give no thought to shining their lights into other people's tents and campers, clicking their alarm/horn every time they (frequently) go into their car. Last weekend our truck, while parked, was aimed right into someone's windows, due to the angle of the sites. I realized that later if I wanted to get something out of the truck and clicked the remote the "approach lighting" would turn on the headlights for 30 seconds. I took a minute and went into my dash settings and disabled it. I know not every car can do this but it only took a minute to consider it and a minute to fix it. If that wasn't an option I could have angled the truck or covered the headlights if I needed to get in. Courtesy goes a long way!
Something I can't stand at campgrounds that is NOT related courtesy...

How about other campers cutting through your site because it is the quickest way to get to the showers or restroom?
Anyone like that?

That is not true. Weekenders and vacationers are always good entertainment.
Every year at the beginning of the season the owners have a group meeting with us seasonals. One thing they always bring up is "No cutting allowed of their trees and bushes". Last summer a weekender took the site across from us and he was worried about a limb on a cedar tree would strike the slide-out when he extended it. He had room to either move over 3 feet or back up 2 feet. Instead, he pulls out a chainsaw and cuts a 2" x 6ft limb, cuts it small enough to throw it on the fire his friend had going already.
He and his friend did not like me for the rest of the weekend because I turned him in to the office.

Obviously there are exceptions to everything. Unfortunately 90%+of the folks I see on golf carts are able bodied. Often kids.

Take it as you wish. The thread is what we hate or love about camping. I’ve contributed what I hate.

I hate (dislike their behavior is maybe better) folks that think their way of utilizing their camper is the ONLY way.
FWIW, my truck lights come on when I click the locking fob to lock it. The horn sounds too. Talk to GMC if you don't like it. I can't help it. I don't really care for it, but it's a truck. It works. I don't think much about it.
I like campgrounds that allow you to come in early if the spot is unoccupied, and you are early!
I've never been bothered by golf carts. I don't have one. I do wish I had a Segway.

My truck did the same thing. I don't mind the lights. They do come on when I unlock. But once I lock it, they turn off immediately. The horn, grief, that had to go!!!! In your truck menu, there is a setting to turn the horn or lights off. I like the lights, not the horn. Just a passing thought...
cheers!

On a whim, just went out to my 2004 Silverado, used the key to unlock and lock (not the fob). Wahoo, no lights, no horn either way. Will have to remember that when camping.

Oh the stories we could tell of 40 years of RVing together! Some were good, some not so good. We generally go to RV Parks and some of the antics there by owners and neighbors alike are quite interesting. It doesn't stop us from enjoying our trips, however.
We were staying at an RV Park in Golden CO. It was a very nice place though subject to some very ferocious winds from a nearby gap in the mountain front. I was working in Denver saving money to buy a place. In November, we were told that we would have leave the park to make room for the summer people, who had previous reservations. We had to vacate before April 1st. To say we were stunned was a bit of an understatement. We were scrambling to find new digs. A couple of weeks later, I had a job interview in Fort Worth followed by a job offer, which I accepted. Problem solved. But it was weird. The staff knew the RV park 15 minutes from my new job and made reservations for us to help us out. For that, we are grateful.
In another RV park, we arrived late but found that the neighbor had pulled in the wrong was and were using our hookups despite being told to fix the setup. We were able to use the 30 amp plug as they had the 50 amp occupied but until they fixed their set up, we couldn't get water or sewer. In the morning my neighbor was told to set up correctly or leave. They left in a huff. We were told they wouldn't be returning. We make a point of going there every September.

I hate sites that are crammed togeather. The few private resorts/ campgrounds I have been to are like this. One place I had problems getting the trailer in on a pull through site due to a bunch of small trees on the ends of the site. Then once setup I had 5” of clearance one each side once the slides and awnings were out. Then I had to get a neighbor who had like 6 tents and canopies setup in a full hook up site with like 10 people to move thier coolers they had stacked on my sewer hookup. Then they went and complained that my sewer hose was in thier way. Same place didn’t list any limitations for a site in a tree covered area. There was literally a tree about 6” in diameter in the middle of the camping pad.
I hate places that don’t have a map and pictures of sites and dont let you reserve a specific site.
Places without fire pits
Places that chain the picnic table in place were it’s not under your awning.
For all these we try and stick with state parks. Around here they are well layed out and well staffed.

My beef is that while you are on the road heading in your wanted direction and while there is still plenty of time and light, you pick an upcoming park for an overnighter. You ring to enquire about a spot for your Big Rig. You explain in clear language that your Big Rig is a big 5th wheel, BIG, HUGE, articulated like a semi tractor-trailer, is 34 foot long without the truck, 15 feet wide the slideouts on both sides are opened up and is 13 feet tall. They say "Yes sure, we can fit you in easily". You get to the place and have to make anywhere between 2 and 6 short-arc right-angle turns, squeeze under low trees, often breaking branches and scratching your roof.
At the selected and now paid for site you have to then reverse into a spot that is like backing a car into a drive on a narrow suburban street and it will be at the farthest end of the park, away from everyone (we like to have neighbours to chat to).
Then after also telling you that they have a dump point, you discover it is a cartridge only thing like a capped sink mounted on a 4 foot high pedestal. Or it is a normal ground-level point but at a place with access designed for 18 foot campers and impossible for you to use with your 5'er. To top it all off, the price they charged is the highest of prices for any sites of any park. Of course with a 5'er, once you are in their drive and off the road it is so much trouble to get the rig out from that position and it's getting late, you stay anyway.
Thank God the next stop is a free-camp.
