Your signature doesn’t tell us what kind of and RV you have so my guess....

It could be the drain for your fresh water tank.

Open it. What comes out? Nothing? Then add some water to the tank with it open and watch for the water to start.

It may take quite a bit of water before it starts coming out depending on where the drain is situated.

If you've never used it before and you're going to winterize soon I'd leave it alone and try this next year.. then you won't have to winterize the tank.

Only of temps get below 32*f. Winterize is to prevent freezing of the water in all water carrying pipes

I don’t live in the coldest part of Texas but I’ve seen 7 degrees F in the past few years and I’ve seen 5” of ice on my metal roof. I always winterize.

Several "winterize" threads currently running. Like they do every October. None of them answer your questions? I bet they do. Just gotta look.

Kevin... Are you a Newbe to this camper and camping? Do you have a battery shut off and use it? You may have many questions that you have not thought of yet and the members are here to help you. Did you buy new or from an individual? 'They' should have went over the camper on all areas.

Yes, the fresh water drain does usually stick 5-8 inches below the underbelly.
The fresh water drain 'only' drains the fresh water tank. you need to find the water line 'drains', there will be two that are very close together. One for hot water lines and one for cold.

(fill out your 'sig line' so everyone will know what you have)

Kevin, welcome to the forum.
There are lots of posts with good advice (even some with not so good advice) and plenty of folks to point you in the right direction.

If you bought new, I must voice my disappointment in your dealer not explaining many of the R/V 101 things that you need to understand such as both of the things you asked about.

Do some searches and if you can't find what you need, ask away and well do our best to help.

Yes we’re new to the rv community. And the dealer went over some stuff and we asked numerous extra questions. However there is a lot of stuff to learn. And I felt like they could’ve done a better job explaining all of it . And I usually like to proceed with caution before I make a $$$ mistake . So I appreciate all yalls feedback.

Do you keep your camper 'plugged in' all of the time? If not so-called 'parasite' ('things that are 'on' all of the time) 12 volt usage will drain your battery.... Do you have a battery disconnect switch? Use the battery disconnect switch when not 'plugged in' to 'shore power'. If you do not have a disconnect switch and do not keep it 'plugged in' at all times, then you will need to 'disconnect' the 12volt power at the battery.... you do not want a 'dead' battery, the next time you go camping. If your battery is now 'low', disconnect it and hook it up to a battery charger.

It's a learning experience. And the reason sites like this exist. Trick is to read, read, read before posting questions that are answered weekly. Some, like me, learn best by our own (bitter) * mistakes -- like a dead battery two weeks after the last camping trip or sail. And frankly a valve on the bottom of a water line should not be a puzzle. It's a drain.

Like an automobile dealer isn't expected to teach you to drive don't expect an RV dealer to teach you how to tow or camp.

* see my note on 8-year old tires.

Kevin, at top of page, click on User CP. You can add stuff to your profile, most importantly where it says 'signature', you can add things like your RV model and tow vehicle model. Helps people out when you make future posts.
