What is this? - came with documentation

Long strap with loop at one end, small plastic bar at other. Came inside my Forest River booklet bag.

Any ideas what it is used for?

Ask dealership employee who did the lengthy and thorough pre-delivery inspection with you.

Yep, that’s it. The short piece of plastic at the end goes in a slot in the awning roller.

As others have stated, that is your emergency strap for your electric awning, should the motor fail and you need to retract it

This video may help. It will show how the strap is used. Now different brands of awnings will have different ways to manually retract it. You need to look at the owners manual for your particular awning

Thank you, thank you, thank you to you for asking and to all members who answered ! We too have this strap and I had no idea what it was. Luckily I didn't throw it away. Now I know what it is.

What a great group you are.
