What’s your best part of camping?

Me? I enjoy striking up a conversation with fellow campers and gaining information from park rangers about local forestry efforts efforts park management.

Let me first say we use our RV for two purposes - “camping” and “RVing”. For us, camping is always in wooded campgrounds (usually Provincial Parks). RVing is when we use it as a mobile motel for sightseeing in areas.

When we are camping we most enjoy being out in nature, like hiking. When we had our kids camping with us, I think campfires were among our favourite activities.

Sleeping in it. getting up 5am making coffee, and then sitting on bench outside enjoying the quiet life. no cars, no trucks driving by. Seeing that inside rv is different than house, feels like moved into a new one.

Hello all. I am new to this forum but not to camping. My favorite part is not having a time anything needs to be done by. We are on a seasonal site so we don't have much packing to get there or going back home. Plenty of time to enjoy our time at the campsite.

I really like the family time that it creates.

I like that a lot of state parks don't have the best cell reception so phone use is at a minimum.

While camping with kids can be exhausting as the parent I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Best part......... Just getting away......... R & R........... Getting back to crowds.......... getting away from nature.....

We live in the mountains so enjoy the beaches.

Not really getting away from nature as we are blessed...... I can walk out our door at home and daily see deer, wild turkeys, many birds including Eagles, black bear, racoons, ground hogs, rabbits and so much more.

Being able to travel and not having to stay in a hotel. Whether I’m in my motorhome, trailer, or tent, I’m in my own bed, and they’re all better than being in a hotel.

Being with family in varied locations. Particularly being able to stay where a hotel would not be possible or super expensive. This summer we have: camped in two different locations right next to Lake Superior, camped in three state parks, camped in three great county/city parks, and camped in four really great Corps of Engineers parks (really impressed by these-my family did not use them when I was a kid). We have camped on lakefront and riverfront property that would not have a hotel or if they did would be cost prohibitive and crowded. We have seen multiple bald eagles from the camper, seen deer, swans, pelicans, loons, etc. That is great.

Quiet and peace. Why I became a forester.
I like to look at forests and evaluate them to figure out their life history. Trees, shrubs and forbs are like old friends. It is fun to see wildlife.
I like the sounds and smells of a forest, especially at night.
I like camp fires in cooler weather and being out there in the off season.

I just like to get away from daily life. A change of scenery, a change of schedule (what schedule?), and a change of pace. Whether we are camping or, as itat says RVing, it accomplishes getting out of our routine and sometimes our comfort zone.

For me the best part of camping is enjoying the outdoors. It’s much more enjoyable and peaceful starting September when the kids are in school.

Enjoying the outdoors, hiking, going for morning jogs through the campground, checking out other RVs, particularly cool modifications others have done.

walking out of the dealership with a big check, and no more payments when he bought it back from me for more than I paid.

Oh and now we take a cruse ship to the beach in the Bahamas for 5 nights for about the same price we were paying the KOA in the outerbanks for 5 nights.

X2. I never even reset clocks because I don't care what time it is.

So are you done RVing? Or are you waiting for prices to come down to sane levels?

My "Best Part of Camping" is just after arrival and setup at the campsite and you sit down in your lawn chair and have your first, cold, beer!

We still have our paid for 2012 RV. Want a new one but will wait a few years to see what happens to the market and quality.
One of my favorite parts of RVing is completing a long trip with good friends and nobody had any mechanical problems. Makes me feel like we all won the lottery
But, like you, we have replaced most of our 2022 fall and 2023 spring RVing with cruises. Currently the cruise prices are excellent while they are trying to entice folks back. And prices for any European vacation are even better.

The best part of camping is waking up with Folgers in your cup. Old commercial jingle for those not old enough to remember.

This old folgers commercial is a hoot.

I work out of our home so it’s nice to be able to get away for a change of scenery and out from the same 4 walls. We sometimes camp while I work just to break things up. As far as my favorite part, just like Nevada I enjoy the first cold beer after getting set up. It’s one of those ahhhhh moments where you take a deep breath and are thankful to be where you are and for all the blessings you have, the RV and nature being a big part of them.
