What to do with Propane Tanks during Winterization

I'm in the process of Winterizing our Trailer and wanted to know what I should do with the propane tanks? Do I leave them as is with both tanks open? or Do I leave them as is with both tanks off? or Do I turn them off and remove them from the trailer?

I blew out the lines today and pumped rv antifreeze through the system and looking to clean it up and remove the battery tomorrow. After that it should be ready for hibernation till next year.

Guess I'm one of the Strainge Ones out here, I dont winterize my rig, I camp year round (Not as Much during the winter thou). Next trip for me is the weekend of November 6th, Heading down to Seaside Oregon for a few days.. But I would say just turn the Tanks off, no need to take them out

I leave my tanks on so I can "exercise" my generator now and then, before pulling out of the snow bank and heading south Dec 1st. If you don't expect to use any propane you can go ahead and turn the tanks off. Either way, off or on, it really doesn't make any difference, as long as you know you don't have any leakage in any of your gas lines or appliances.

I have a 5th wheel so my tanks are "in out of the weather" so all I do is turn them off. They aren't going to rust where they are. With a TT however, you'd have to judge for yourself whether or not rust will be a problem. If you remove the tanks, I'd try to find a way to keep moisture out of the open LP lines.

I keep the camper "plugged in" to AC all winter, so I don't bring the batteries in either.

Besides, it's just Georgia. Winter ain't all that bad here.

I may just turn them off. The tanks are under the hard propane cover and I plan on covering the entire trailer which will cover the propan cover too. Thanks everyone.

I agree with leaving them in place, and turning them off. If I decide to run the furnace during a particularly cold nite as a safety precaution against the vinyl floor cracking, I turn the tanks back on for the furnace.

1 precaution when I do that: I try to predict the upcoming cold snap, and remove the tank covers during the warmest part of the day. My tank cover seems to get more brittle as the temperatures plunge, so I want to mess with that tight puppy while it is reasonably warm out so I don't break the cover.

Just turn them off and they will be fine, we hit -40 here and I have never done anything else. I dothe same for our BBQ bottles they are just stored outside, only thing is propane doesn't flow as well when it hits our balmy temps but at -40 a BBQ or going in the trailer is prettly low on my list of to do's.
