what tripod stabilizer do you use.
Waiting on my Rockwood 2883ws to be built but would like to purchase a few items before unit is delivered to dealer. I'm looking for advise and suggestions for a tripod stabilizer jack.

I had one that I used on my 2nd 5th wheel and personally I did not see any improvement for stability. My new 5er is very stable and do not use any type of system. Later RJD

X2
I had one that really didn't do much good.
I've since put on JT Strongarms triangular stabilization and have quit hauling around that heavy king pin jack.

Good advice from all.
With the remarks I've received I plan on making a few trips without any stabilizing system to see if this 5'er is stable enough without any extra support. Otherwise, I will go with a JT Strong type system.

Movement in an R/V is inevitable. It's a mobile platform on a sprung frame. Some folks are more susceptible to the movement than others.
I've said this before but I'll say it again... I love my DW but she walks like an elephant and can bounce through the R/V like a herd of them.
I started with a tripod king pin jack with no difference. it wasn't supporting or suppressing movement where it mattered most, in the living area. I then added x-chocks and that helped a good bit. Then I added screw scissor jacks at the axle and that helped even more. Finally I've added the JT Strongarms and that's eliminated about 98% of our movement.

Yep, everyone used to have a kingpin stabilizer tripod. I think we were victims of marketing. Now, you rarely see them, and there is a reason. They don't do much of anything, PITA to setup and store. Everyone in my group chucked them years ago.
Steadyfast or strongarms work well. Another option is to use your RV so much that eventually you won't even notice the movement

I bought one 12 years ago for my first 5th wheel. After the first trip I stuck it in my garage where it still sits. The bulk of the weight in a fifth wheel when parked sits on the trailer's suspension and is stabilized by the front jacks and rear stabilizers, or the auto levelers. There will always be slight movement since the suspension in most trailers involves springs and by definition, springs, um, spring.

Springs or Spring!
The 2883ws has the torsion flex axles, no springs, so wonder if that will make a difference in movement?

Our 8509IKBS has torsion axles.
It doesn't seem to move any more or any less than our others that had spring suspensions when stationary. Interior movement is something you'll fight on any towed R/V regardless of how it is sprung (springs or torsion) unless you put it on blocks/pillars.

If you have kids and you and your partner want to use the forward bedroom then they might be an advantage. Otherwise I don't see a need.

LOL! But then you had the whole family in there with you It's only my wife and I and she isn't big enough to shake anything. During the last trip we were discussing how we really don't notice any movement anymore and don't use any extra stabilizers like we used to. So we must have gotten used to it!

🤣🤣 I only notice the movement when watching tv on the bed and the wife is walking around.
My last TT had x chocks which solved the movement. But don’t care any more, just yell and say sit down! 🤣

Hi Relder,
As a fellow 2883ws owner I was going to purchase one but as other have stated it really does not need one.

Thanks Timm9,
will hold off for now. Still hope the unit is delivered late September to mid October, although not holding my breath.

I'm of the other school. When we set up I use mine with great success. I get up early when we long term at the beach, and my tripod stops a lot of bounce when I go out to walk the beach at 5 am and my DW is still sleeping. I would not argue that Strongarms or some such other system works as well or better, as I haven't tried them, but my tripod works fine. I also use screw crank jack stands under the rear of the frame to create a more stable floor. Again I only go through the hassle of setting them up when we are long term, but it helps. If you use it properly, it also stops a lot of fore and aft movement. Correct installation is key. The chains need to be pulled tight, and readjusted if the feet slip out, and the head unit needs to stay cranked up tight. I just throw it in the back of my pickup where it lives unless used.

never owned a tripod jack. for euther of my 5th / w trailers . rarely put down rear stabilizers , and in texas its windy , i guess some trailers rock a lot, both of mine were at 8500#, and 11700# . if it gets bad windy "like 65mph + ill put goose hitch on truck turn over ball , with legs just touching ground. and rear jacks down.

Sorry... this made me grin!
The written word can certainly be interpreted many ways.
In this case, it seems to me, the tripod is stopping the bounce of you walking the beach at 5 AM! That is a good tripod!
