What would you pay?

I found a truck I like online and I was just curious what you guys think a fair dealer price for a truck like this would be?

2021
Chevy Silverado 2500HD LT
Crew Cab
Diesel w/ Allison tranny
4x4
6' bed
21k miles on it
clean car fax
1 owner

I m just trying to get a feel what you think a fair price for a truck like this would be.

If you have yet to do so, start your comparative pricing search at:

https://www.kbb.com

That site will give you reasonable idea of what to expect from both dealers and private parties in your area. Best wishes!

my 2015 2500 dmax with 120k miles on it was worth 53k to my dealer on the spot. They still keep hounding me to sell it to them. I only paid 48k for it in 2015.

Right now you're better off ordering a new truck from the dealer. I was just offered more for my 2016 Silverado 1500 than I paid for it brand new five and a half years ago.

Am I the only one that is skeptical about why a person buys a brand new truck; puts 21K miles on it and trys to sell it in the same model year?

That's a good question.

Probably because they know they will get more than they paid for it... Plus with gas being 6.00 a gallon in places like CA imagine the cost of Diesel.

In the current used-vehicle environment he may be looking to turn a profit. 2021 Silverados have been available for over a year if I'm not mistaken. I don't think the used market was nearly as insane then.

I got 12K for turning in my 2019 GMC lease 8 months early. That's why.

Nope, you're not alone on that thought.

Don't some folks like to get a new vehicle every year? With what used pickups are commanding right now (especially on the private market) it may make total sense to sell it and buy new. In fact, OP ought to look at buying new, as pointed out in an earlier post.

Just got the answer. The dealer bought this at auction so it was repossessed.

Lease returns also go to auction I believe. At least that's what a dealer told me recently.

Not on a truck less than a year old.

cost of new 250 superduty

Was with our daughter this past weekend when she went vehicle shopping. She did her research and got what she wanted at the price she was willing to pay. Bronco Sport with some extras. We were just along for the ride as she has bought vehicles on her own for almost twenty years. But here is what the DW and I heard a salesman tell a couple who were looking and test drove a 2022 F250 superduty with 4wd and a bunch of extras.

$82,000.00 plus TT&L

Which is more than the DW and I payed for our first TWO houses back in the day.
Yikes!!!!!

Dave

1. They got fired and can't pay the monthly.
2. They are moving and only taking the other vehicle.
3. They are downsizing.
4. They are upsizing, need more power or capacity.
5. They need some quick cash for medical bills.
6. They decided to sell their trailer or park it permanently.
7. Someone got sick or disabled and they aren't trailering/farming any more.
8. Other things.
9. You-know-what happens.
10. They tried Chevy and are going back to _____.

P.S.: I do see the update that it was a repo, so some version of #1. But I'll just leave this here for those wondering why someone would sell a truck within the same model year.

No. My question was going to be "Why are they selling".

Also, in this day and age I wouldn't buy a used diesel without a Dealer inspection. Better to pay for that and find issues before a purchase than to find out later and be stuck with some expensive repairs.

Might be different if the truck is no longer needed as the driver passed away.

All good answers. As stated by someone; I would have it thoroughly inspected before purchasing. Enjoy your newer truck!

I ended up getting it. I got $25,000 for my 2013 Duramax WITH 164k miles on it which is on the higher end of the blue book. Since it's only a year old with 20k miles, it still has the balance of the original factory warranty.
