If you have neighbors nearby, just don't use a 2 stroke motor. That Damak Beast looks pretty cool.

We usually avoid large parks that have golf carts. We'd rather be in a more natural setting or a smaller campground. Other than walking, we have sporting goods store quality mountain bikes (Nakamura and Diadora brands) that we can ride on roads and not too rugged trails.

Looks like it is a $1500+ electric bike.

I think you'll find that in places with a lot of people, etc. such as your aircraft events, regular campgrounds that people won't want the sound of anything with an engine. So something electric is going to be your best bet.

However, for your boondocking, if you go to remote areas you'll almost certainly want a quad or 2 stroke motorcycle for the power, ruggedness and efficiency in fuel usage. I couldn't imagine running anything electric in the wilderness, then burning fuel to charge it.

You are faced with two totally different applications and no "one" thing will do both well. If I was you I would look at a bicycle/tricycle/electric hybrid for the crowded situation and a used quad for the boon docking.

Actually Dan, it was an aircraft event where I realized that I needed something because everyone else had the very things we are discussing here. To be more clear, these events (Paramotor Fly-ins)are not normally at large airports rather they are held at small private grass strips unlike the Arlington Fly-in that was mentioned earlier in this thread.

It's really hard to explain to people that have never participated in the sport and it a completely different kind of camping.

For another grand I can pick up a dual sport motorcycle and get more use out of it.

Heck yeah! Now I'm looking myself at the CSC TT250.
Seems to have good reviews from owner videos I found on YouTube.

The last few years, our time boon-docking has grown and it is getting increasingly hard to not have off-road toys with us. I flip-flop all over on how we might do it. On the expensive end, sell the trailer and truck and go motorhome/jeep or big truck/toyhauler. But that TW200 has me thinking yet another, cheaper and easier, route.

My Chinese clone Mini Trail works well boondocking at Landsailing events and STOL Fly-In events (Flying Cowboys) in Nevada. Street legal with 141cc. Geared down to 50 mph. Click image for larger version

Comeingbfrom some one that ran his own shop that was willing to work on the cheap China stuff. 9 out of 10 times the savings from a good name brand bike to the cheap China clone was not worth it. Warranties are basically non existent worse then the rv industry. The drop shippers require it to be assembled by a certified small engine person and they are parts only. Now let’s talk about replacement parts the actual part needed can change from one week to the next in production.
I will even say you have to watch the big brands for their point of manufacture too. I subbed at a dealer and also took overflow from that same dealership and did the work they wouldn’t or couldn’t do. The owner and I were setting up a pair of kymcos during the pdi we foundwarranty issues with the bike built in China and none with the one built in Taiwan
Plane to spend a whole day doing a pdi on it change all fluids replace all hoses check every ele connection and every nut and bolt. Valve stems are crap and should be replaced also

Getting around camp

We ride these recumbent 3 wheelers around camp. Considering electric hub motor for my wife.

When I go fishing and take the kayak I have a Yamaha 50 to run around with. It will tow the kayak on its dolly wheels no problem.

I'll be doing a lot of walking/hiking from now on. After a quad heat bypass I should have done more before.

I used to drive everywhere I went just because I didn't have any extra time. Now there's no point in saving time by driving and then wondering what to do with all the time on my hands. If it's less than a mile I now walk.

Retirement is a wonderful thing.

I like your little tow rig a lot. I'm thinking about a kayak or small inflatable to take with me.

Thanks, I’m a pretty serious fly fisher and the Hobie Pro Angler 14 is an amazing boat but made for fishing. The trailer has lots of storage, a mount for my extra generator, a deep cycle battery, and a solar panel to keep it topped up.
