I agree that it's probably all concrete highways. Worst one I have experienced is I-65 through Birmingham, Al.

I40 west of Flagstaff, HOLD ON. driving in the left lane is better but that is hard for me to do always looking back to see if I should move over?

Although they are in the process of fixing it.

I-69 near Lansing, MI. We got that oscillation cycle so bad I was worried we'd have serious damage. Very violent. Must be related to axle spacing because our friends behind us in a slightly different truck/fifth wheel didn't experience it as bad as we did. Also wonder if our heavy-springed 3500 transmits the bounce more than their 250.

Agree... through Shreveport, La on I-20.

Also in Louisiana - US 90, the first 40 miles headed southeast from Lafayette towards New Orleans. Rattled my fillings loose and jarred the bejesus out of the 5er.

We took a day trip to New Orleans in the truck alone. My fuel mileage steadily dropped to around 6 mpg until the road finally smoothed out and the mpg climbed back up.

I-95 through the Carolinas is pretty bad and the construction on I-75 in Florida is correcting a lot of the problems there, but the areas that still need construction are pretty rough. I think there is one area that really beats everything posted here. It is the section of I-81 that runs between the Wilkes-Barre airport exit and the junction of I-81 and I-84 in Scranton, Pa.. This is a brand new concrete highway. 2 or three years old. And when you ride on it is is like a WASHBOARD !!! I mean, you are literally hanging on for dear life even if you are not pulling a trailer!! Who ever the engineer of this project was, he should not be paid!! The road should be torn up and done over!!

I-90 in Minnesota was awful. Thought we would get seasick.

Agree. About bought the farm going south thru Birmingham. Bad roads, bad weather and bad drivers made for near fatal experience last February. Will not go that way again. Also, I-55 thru southern Missouri and Arkansas will keep you awake and bladder active!

I-10 westbound from the Atchafalaya Basin to the I-49 bridge in Louisiana, have to slow to 45 to keep things from falling apart.

I-25 from Denver north in Colorado. Worse yet, it's bumper to bumper 24/7.

I39 north of Bloomington, IL was shake n bake n rock n roll n bounce...It is a good thing we have a stable WDH with no sway, or we'd been all over the road.

I was holding on hoping the TT wouldn't break loose from the hitch, and we were keeping it between 60-65 MPH.

With the rough ride, and the road noise, we couldn't hear the radio or speak to one another.

The John Kilpatrich Turnpike around Oklahoma City is another rough ride, like crossing waves in a boat.

It was so nice to get on a smooth quiet asphalt highway.

Perhaps Garmin can set a preference for asphalt only?
HA HA! That’s EASY! I in the middle of filing a TORT against the city of INDIANAPOLIS where late July, this yr, we hit MANY potholes between I74E to I 70E. Missed our exit to I70 and took the next exit for a turnaround...on which we ran into BIG trouble on the 270 degree ramp. Couldn’t stop in time or avoid it but it looked as if the concrete had been hackhammered into a 5” wide X 5” deep trench completely across the ramp. The rig(24S Solera) slammed across this trench and shook us badly but the new Mich’s held... at least for a mile until MM 83.8 on E70. We pulled over almost against the guard rail while watching 4 lanes of traffic trying to clear the closest lane to us starting a 1/2 mi. back. Very dangerous predicament for 6 hrs at that spot. Even the highway patrol and the first wrecker did not hang around very long to assist and basically said we were on our own! 3 hrs into this adventure we finally got positive help from Pomp’s, a dedicated RV rescue company(kudo’s to them!). Oh, both RR tires of the dually were flat and missing the simulator(bounced off at the trench and took the extenders with them). The leaking tires got us up the rd for another mile, somehow, until we heard the proverbial tire “sound”. Pomps got the tires fixed and remounted (new valves) and we were back on the rd to Ohio after a total 6-hr fiasco on
that fine concrete infrastructure. Total damage not covered (deductible) was approx. $800- and hope to get some of this back. Indianapolis highways and byways are decrepit and will NEVER drive anywhere near that transport system again. Illinois wasn’t great either but nothing like THAT!
What in hell is INDOT doing with their fair share of the road repair budget each yr? Building casino’s?

Bad road...

We primarily travel state highways and roads. In the 10,000+ miles this year our worst was the Tom Osborne Expressway in Nebraska. Miles and miles of torture on us and the truck/trailer.

I have to agree about I71 in SW Ohio. I take it on every eastbound trip from our home in SW Ohio. Absolutely terrible like others have said. Also, I don't know what the Clintons did with all their money, but they sure didn't put it into their home state freeways (Arkansas). Statewide, they are some of the worst in the country.

I continue to be amazed that the country that put the first man on the moon and leads the world in technology can find a solution to one of our most nagging national problems, i.e. how to pave roads. Surely there must be some way to build concrete or asphalt roadways that can stand ice, snow and vibration while lasting more than a year or two.

Some of the secondary roads in AR are far better than the interstates. Last month went to Petit Jean State Park. Detoured off I40 in Conway and took state routes to a South, I believe, entrance. Excellent roads except there is nowhere to pull off if you have a problem.

Michigan. We have the worst roads (concrete or asphalt) of any of the 50 states and some of the highest insurance rates in the country. I have no clue what my taxes pay for as it certainly isn't road repairs. Hardly something to brag about, but sadly quite true.

Oh and around Indianapolis the concrete roads are so full of large potholes it is a wonder everyone doesn't have bent rims and axles.
