Which Chock for Stability

Hi there. We have a Vibe 308BHS trailer and get a bit of front to back wiggling when parked, leveled and jacks down. I've looked at x chocks and the fastway one step chocks and was looking for some feedback of each.

I like the simplicity of the fastway one step chocks but if the x-chocks have an advantage I'm not opposed to those

X-chocks:

Fastway One Step:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003VAX2R4..._t5_B00B2ATTUE

Or if there's any other options out there I'm open to input.

Thanks!

Get whatever chocks you choose, but instead add the SteadyFast system. It'll remove more shake than anything else.

I have x-chocks and really like them. They don't allow the wheels to move really at all. I would think that they're better than the Fastway system because there are four points of contact versus 2.

However, I've never used the Fastway system so I don't really know for sure.

I'd agree with the statement by ependydad though.. the Steadyfast system will stop the side to side movement.

Probably need both though to eliminate as much as possible.

We've had both over the years when we had bumper pull trailers and prefer the Fastway a little over the X Chock. I don't know if that's for one or a set of 2 but be sure to get two of them.

Don't forget this is a trailer and it's designed to move so other than putting it up on blocks you'll never get all the movement out of it.

I love my X-chocks which were a gift from a friend. Thanks Jay.

For years I used these:

Trailer(s) were as solid as could be, even with adults, kids, and dog, moving around inside.

Then, for some reason, everyone (including me) decided they were too much trouble and now spend hundreds of dollars on accessories to stabilize our parked trailers.

If I was leaving the trailer for a few weeks or months I'd absolutely purchase those.

However, setting it up and taking it down several times a week would be a pain.. I realize you pay for convince.

Back when that was all that was available it really wasn't that much of a pain. We just "did it". Even easier to use today with "jack mounts" now welded to frames in more accessible places than on an old 1972 Prowler where you had to crawl under to get to the frame. Also adding to the ease are the "lego blocks" available today to gain added height. No need to carry a bunch lumber pieces around for spacers.

Face it, we're getting spoiled with electric jacks and such that work at a push of the button but don't work as well as "old school" when it comes to stability.

well I bought the x chocks a few months ago and why was because if you have to level the tt from side to side with say 3-4 blocks then I don't think you could use the fastway due to the tire being to high and can't chock the wheel, not proven but my thought

I used these Valterras on 2 trailers... one under the rear bumper and one under the propane tanks. Our son is a little larger than me (6'1'.. 225) and these eliminated about 95% of the bounce. [emoji106]

Which Chock for Stability Jacks

I like the X-chock!

I have been thinking about adding JT's Strong Arm Stabilizer Jacks-Travel trailer kit to add even more stability side to side.

That is the reason we bought the x chocks and they worked when needed. The only draw back we experienced was when the tires cooled down and shrunk a bit after we chocked them. We got in the habit of giving them a couple more cranks with the enclosed wrench after a few hours on site.

I have a friend with a 30’ TT using one of these. He swears by it.

JT strong arms are the only way to go. I have x chocks and don't really use them with the Strong arms attached

I use a DIY X like chock. Helps, but don't believe anything can totally eliminate all rock short of tires off the ground , and that's not feasible to a traveler. I might experiment with the screw type jack stands on the frame fore and aft of the wheels.

X Chocks

The X chocks do really well with stopping the movement of the TT. I bought them a few months ago and really noticed the difference. Unfortunately I decided to trade my TT for a MH. So I can't use them now. I can sell them to you for half price + shipping. Message me if you want them.

X chock fan

I used these X-chocks for the first time this weekend and they made a huge difference. They are easy to set up and break down and not much heavier than one rubber chock. I’m and X-chock fan.
