A few years back went on a Memorial weekend in CA because our friends wanted to meet up and camp. I really didn't want to go on a major Holiday but they did. Then they had to cancel at the last moment , we went anyway since it was already paid for and camped next to a MH full of late teens and early 20's, they were drinking and mostly drunk by the time we woke up in the morning. Luckily they were on the other side of the MH. Unfortunately, a kid stumbled around the back and around to our side and barfed, NICE! is all I had to say to the kid... And of course our kids, 8 and 10 at that time had to see all this...
Oh well,
Hopefully that won't be us but we'll make the most of it if it happens. I've been second guessing myself since I made the reservations , lol if it gets that bad we'll only be 15 minutes from home .

I'm going to a local (somewhat local) state lake and campground. I was surprised there were spots available. After talking with the host, he said they are always at half-capacity because there are no fireworks close by... which is OK for us.

Fair Haven Beach campground on Lake Ontario over the fourth of July. Campsite is on a high bluff overlooking the lake with beautiful sunsets...can't wait

I love camping Memorial Day weekend at PA state parks. Not this year though, going for surgery the Wednesday prior.

We usually stay through the following weekend so after Monday we have the entire place almost to ourselves. Memorial weekend is typically packed and we go early to beat the Friday rush. I call it amatuer weekend. The stop sign at the park entrance usually gets whacked by people cutting the turn too tight, campfire rings get backed over, picnic tables are hit, so on and so forth. Also I get to watch people trying to put 36' trailers into 20' sites. Not wishing anyone grief but damn is it entertaining, especially the husband wife arguments getting in and set up.

4th of July and Labor day weekends never are as crowded as Memorial day for whatever reasons.

We have 10 nights reserved over the 4th week.

Best place we have ever been on the Fourth, was the Canada side of Nigra Falls. At night there must be about 2 dozen towns with Fire Works on the American side!

Last Dam on Missouri River

Yankton SD SRA above the dam. Bike trails, etc. and very generous campsites. Lots to do and fishing, golfing, etc. in the area. Great fireworks both public and private in area outside of campground.
