winter camping

When the weather turn bad I put my rig in the ranch shop and winterize it, however I still like to camp up there. I have folks say that is not real winter camping and I remind them there is no heat no facilitates and the water is off. So its winter camping without the snow go outside for #1 and use a camp toilet (5gal bucket with seat) for #2. For three days I bring 3 cases of water this time the light went off. I bought 2 5 gallon water container drilled and mounted an air gap to break the vacuum crated by the battery pump in it and eliminated the need for cases of water. I filled it with city water at home and used a filter pitcher for the coffee/drinking water. Can't believe I didn't think of this before.

My daughter hauls a 5 gallon jug with water everywhere she and my son in law goes camping with a pump very similar. She is trying her best not to use anymore plastic than necessary. It does work out pretty well.

The air gap was the real improvement for ease of operation with that said you can't trade the bottle in once you do that.
