Winter sucks...

So today, I decided that if I'm going to be able to actually get to my TH in 4 weeks when I'm leaving for Daytona, I'd better snowblow my yard to get to it now. Not my driveway. My yard. So after 2 hours of clearing snow from my lawn in front of the TH (and shearing one drive bolt in the process, for which I have spares,) it was time to back the truck up to the TH. Only then do I discover that the jaws on the Companion are frozen shut. So, after shoveling the snow out of the bed of my truck as best I could, it was off to the coin-op car wash to clean the rest of the ice and snow from the bed. Which is a good way to also give yourself a cold ice/snow shower. Luckily, I was able to thaw out (mostly) on the ride back home. Then I was finally able to hitch up, pull the TH out, load my buddy's bike in it (after washing the salt off it from bringing it to my house last week on the car trailer,) close it up and back it into my "staging" spot next to the house. I know its still gonna snow a bunch between now and then, but at least now it's close to my driveway and I won't have to clear as much when it's time to leave.

It's a funny story, and only because it's true--you can't make crap like this up. Is winter over yet?

I shoveled the deck agin today as well! We have 4 feet level across the back yard, level with the hot tub. I can get into the storage lot to get the trailer for April trip here but a week at Daytona would be slick.! Do they have power for RV or is everyone running generators 24/7?

Yea- winter does suck this year. Had just 5 days below freezing this season and have been warned by weatherman that a storm is coming thru this weekend and may only get up to 70. 😃

Now don't be too mean with the hate mail to me...

Location, Location, Location. Going camping here in NC for four or five days starting tomorrow. Maybe some highs in the low 60's, one night probably a couple degrees below freezing (who cares?). Some are speculating we may not get ANY snow in the Piedmont (central part of NC) this year, but that would be really rare. Got propane today for $2.09/gallon at Tractor Supply.
When we got our first hard-sided camper back in 2004, we made the commitment to camp once a month, and we've only missed two months during that time, not because it was too cold to camp, but because it was too cold to get outside and set up a camper. Yep, we're wussies.
We've camped many times when it got down into the teens (late at night) and also when we got surprised twice (once at Myrtle Beach) with a snowfall (we just stayed put until it melted). Lots of fun. We made a snowman.
Best wishes to our friends in the North. You'll be out and about soon, and we hope to see you. Believe it or not, there are people down here who don't camp much at all in the winter. It is not for everyone, even down here.
As we say in the South: Ya'll come.

Come on down Taran, I'm 30 minutes from Daytona. We had low 70s today and set to have mid 70s tomorrow! Very sunny with dark blue skies!

Ok so those in the south who are just pouring a tiny bit of salt in our frozen wounds....All I can say is I have been to those places in July/August how can you camp when you can't leave the camper because you will melt the moment the humidity/ heat hits you......And yes it would be nice to be able to camp in February....

I have to say that although we can camp thru the winter, we would give up our brown and dusty campsites to some of the beautiful green locations I see in your pictures after the great thaw!

Here in Idaho today it actually hit 70 today! Nature's way of jerking us around, teasing us into thinking spring is around the corner. Back into the 30's & 40's next week. Oh well, at least we enjoyed one day.

We have a group heading down to a CG in Bunnell for the week, full hookups. I'm not even bringing my genny. Can't wait.

Been in the 50s here is SW Wyoming lately. Kinda crazy never seen it like this ever. Really getting the itch to go. I have a new baby 6 months old right now. Can't wait to take him camping. But I'm sure we will get slammed with cold weather and more snow before ok man winter goes away. Never fails.

60s and 70s here in Florida. At least we CAN camp in the summer. We are used to the humidity, although we don't always like it. But, we can stay inside in the air and go out in shorts and flip flops, not heavy winter coats, hats, gloves, and boots. You trade one thing for another. Also, we can travel to cooler climes in the summer for a change.

Winter seems to have forgotten about us this year. There haven't been any days where the high temp wasn't above 40F. It made 60 F in Bellingham yesterday and 58 in Anacortes. It has rained a lot, though, particularly across on the Olympic Peninsula - lots of flooding.

Frigid here in Western New York, another 4 inches of snow fell here overnight. Temps in low teens, they are predicting -7 this weekend for a low, but usually they up it. Hopefully no colder than 0 for a low. I miss my RV and I bet it misses me.

Sounds like a epidemic of cabin fever north of the mason Dixie line.

Yup winter does suck. Especially this year as it's been so cold.
Lucky for you though Daytona will be fun, first time i'll miss it in a few years. Hopefully get down there next year though.

Have some fun and enjoy!!!

Where's global warming when you need it? Going to be in the minus numbers in Ohio again this weekend.
