Wintering in Northern Florida

The wife and I retired this year and are looking to possibly spend the winter in northern Florida. Problem is we have been calling around and found out that the workers that are constructing a gas pipeline in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama have almost filled up the campgrounds. Anyone on the forum that may be in that area know of or can recommend a campground that has some room? I have a location in Arizona but want to be back for Thanksgiving and didn't want to fly back with our cats. Thanks in advance.

Come down little further, around Tampa area there are plenty RV parks.

Try farther south in FL, like the Orlando area. Warmer there anyway.

Thanks for the response. We are looking farther south and would like to stay under $900 per month including electric. Any suggestions?

You could also try south Georgia. Weather is the same as North Florida

Thanks for the responses! We are actually expecting a call from Eagle Roost tomorrow to see what they may have. I really wanted to reserve 4 or 5 months but will take a shorter time and look for another location as needed.

How about the Golf Shores AL? If this works try Lake Osprey Resort in Elberta AL. Court yard sites ( back in ) are about $ 700 a month +electric . Check out their web site and give them a call.

I would this park a 10.

Try Pantion Ridge RV Park in Gulf shores, AL. Brand new park with lots of spots. Cheaper than northern Florida and the same weather.

Is there some place you'd like to be close to? This campground is fairly nice, decently quiet, and fairly inexpensive. I don't know if they have room, but I've checked it out as a possible place to stay for short or long-term.

Eagle's Landing RV Park

Here are the monthly rates at Starke/Gainesville KOA:

Starke/Gainesville NE KOA

Small town in the middle of North Florida. About one hour drive to the West puts you on the gulf coast and an hour to east on the Atlantic Coast. Its about 1:40 to Daytona for Bike Week or 30 minutes to Gator Nationals, both in March.

I find the temps in N Fl very little different than where we live on the CE coast of NC. To be toasty you need to be south of Tampa.

Have you tried any State Parks? We will be camphosts at Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park in Keystone Heights, FL for the months of February & March 2017.

Thanks for all of the replies! I will keep all recommendations in mind. I made a reservation at Eagle's Roost in Valdosta Georgia for the months of November and December. I will be searching for other options for January, February, and possibly March while I am home for the holidays. I may opt for some warmer weather depending on how cold Georgia is! Again thanks for the replies. This really helps this snowbird newbie!
