Even if you left water filter in the canister and ran antifreeze through it won't freeze.
My father inlaw did this all the time bless his heart.
His motto was why mess with it twice. This happened every year for 20 years.
And his never froze.

Me on the other hand I take it out since I can just reach into the basement and do it.
I moved it from factory location to just inside my basement door.

Just did first winterization.. Emptied fresh tank. Blew out city connection w/ low point caps off.. Drained WH.. (Bypassed) then pumped in AF... An unexpected 29 degree night before winterization burst the outside shower valve.. (I have replacement on order)
Q1 - Should I wait till spring to repplcae the OS shower valve?
Q2 - What about the black & gray tanks? Leave dump valves open? What should I put in tanks?
