Winterizing

Time to start wintering process here. Frost on the roof this morning.

I'm pretty good at the whole process...but this new Park Trailer is quite different...so I have some questions.

Is anyone familiar with winterizing the ice maker in the fridge? I really don't want to make pink ice cubes if I don't have to.

How about winterizing lines when you have no water pump? I need to use antifreeze...as compressed air just won't do up here.
Also have a residential style toilet, and 20 gal. water heater to get right. It appears the WH already has a bypass installed.

Since these systems are so different, I believe I will have the dealer come out and do it...while I watch and learn. This is about the best way to get it right.

Along the same lines...I'm guessing LCD TV's will have to be removed and stored in a warm area?

The idea of having the dealer or a pro do it the first time is smart. I run the antifreeze through the icemaker for safety sake, but some warn not to. (In the spring you just run the icemaker and sop up the liquid with papertowel until it goes clear.) Personally I'd turn the water off the toilet, flush, and fill the trap with antifreeze, but I don't know if that is the recommended way.

As for running antifreeze through the lines, I think they use a pressurized tank, like a weed sprayer, filled with antifreeze and with a male waterhose fitting attached. blow out the sytem with air first, pump up the pressure, open the furthest tap, let it run and continue pumping to keep pressure up. Do this with each faucet.

Jolly - This might be part of the answer to your question. See top right corner. http://www.go-rv.com/coast/do/catalog/page?dealerId=1060&pageNum=360

That's what I was thinking they used. Looks to me like you'd need someone to pump, and someone inside to open faucets. Looks pretty simple. Maybe that is the answer.

well the pro who does a lot of the trailers for lazy people in our park does it alone with a 2 gallon sprayer and a lot of trips in and out, but yeah she's really a two-person job.... two-way radios keep the frustration down a bit by the way. "k, open it up" "running pink now" etc. It a person had to, he could set up a 12v pump easily enough, but the pressure sprayer thing works well.

Yeah a hand transfer pump like that would work too.
