Wish me luck - New Tires -Carlisle

Well after months of being parked I talked to the local tire man face to face. He assures me he is not having any problems with carlisle tires at this time and Its his number 1 brand. He does admit that 04/06 he had problems.

So I let him talk me into four new carlisles. Just picked up the trailer from him and time will tell.

I have read all the nighmares from all brands so I took the only road around here as far as brand in stock.

Wish me luck.

Mike

treat 'em right and they'll probaly treat you right

the only probs with my carlisles was that they were old and had sat in one place for over a year with no covers

they still lasted me a year before I had my failures

good luck!

I have only owned the Carlisle tires I bought for my tent trailer back in the early 90's. They were fine for me...no problems.

I will wish you luck.... My fil put 4 on his TT and I bought it from him. I thought I had good tires too. They were the 15" E rated ones. He had them balanced and kept them aired to proper psi. I did too, knowing the horror stories of them. I added on board air to make sure that I checked pressures before each travel day, felt tires at each stop, did everything known to RVers to insure no problems. I almost had one explode on me!! I noticed a strange looking tire shape when I returned to storage after a pull from NC to home in Fla. I had to put the spare on and took it to the selling dealer. They were willing to change all four, one at no cost and the other three prorated for ware. I opted for 5 new 16" E rated BFG Commercial T/As instead. Cost me more but I didn't want anymore Carlisles. Never had another problem with TT tires.

Again good luck with your choice.....

I've seen the pictures and can sympathize with people who've had problems, but if there was a real flaw, wouldn't NHTSA have recalls or defect investigations all over the place? I see only one involving Carlisle tires and it dates back to 1985.

Oops, I spoke too soon. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/complaints/results.cfm
