yellowstone park

Any tips on weather to drive a 42 ft Class A thru the park rather than renting a car. Rentals are crazy over $200 per day

Parking is crowded at Yellowstone

When we were there in Sept. 2017 (driving a Tacoma) parking was crowded at all the popular locations (Artists Point, Mammoth Hot Springs, Grand Prismatic, etc.) and there is very little RV parking at these locations. We saw plenty of Class C's circling around waiting for one of the few RV spots. The only exception is at Old Faithful, which has massive parking lots. I know it has gotten more popular/crowded since then, and summer is worse than when we were there in the fall. I would strongly recommend not using a larger RV as your vehicle for getting around the park.

If you mean within the next few days, forget it. It was bad enough when I took my F350 long bed in there.

Rent a small car.

I don't think your size or length is any issue, the biggest Prevosts travel there every day - and usually towing much bigger 'tow vehicles' than the rest of us - our 34' Palazzo and '14 Ford Fiesta toad had no issues, but we also didn't stop at many 'roadside' attractions, mainly old faithful, etc.
While the roadside parking lots mostly have some type of 'rv' parking, you never know if other rv have already taken them, how long they'll stay, or whether 'regular' vehicles are parking there, instead. There is no guarantee.

Not a problem driving through the park at all . just traffic and buffalo jams . Now if you want to stop places along the way that might be an issue .

I would no way do day trips in the park in a motor home, too much traffic congestion and limited parking, if any parking at all. If just passing through it should be OK.

I totally agree. We had enough trouble with the F 250 short bed finding parking. Had a Ranger tell me to move twice. We left the TT outside the park in a campground. As mentioned Old Faithful was no problem.

I would agree, parking at an attraction, is hard enough to find for regular vehicles, let alone for a 42ft Motorhome.
