2 Gray Tanks?

Hello. I have a 2016, Nitro 23kw. I have 2 status indicators for gray water, tanks 1 & 2, on my control panel. 1 always fills, 2 never shows anything but empty.

I’ve ran water through everything and it never budges.

So, do I actually have 2 gray tanks, or 1? Can someone tell me the capacity of each, if 2?

Thanks.

Your panel is probably somewhat generic. I have a grey water tank, a galley tank and the black water tank - 3 tanks total. My panel has grey 1, grey 2, galley 1, galley 2 and black 1. It’s not near me for a check but I think it also has black 2. The panel lists 6 tanks but I only have 3 total. I’m guessing you have the same situation - only one tank but two place holders in case the same panel is used in a different unit. Fewer panels to manufacture.

How many dump valve handles do you have?

My previous TT had two gray and one black tank.

The rear kitchen had it's own gray tank at the back of the trailer sewer drain separate from the other two, which were in front of the axles.

With a 'Y' adapter, I typically needed 30 to 40-feet of sewer hose to hook them all up together.

2, Black and Gray. The panel has the little button for Gray Tank 2, not an empty slot.

Sorry I meant to post a picture.

I'll check again, but that gray 2 never shows anything but empty.

My camper has a kitchen sink (confirmed that it drains into Gray 1) , shower (confirmed it drains into Gray 1), bathroom sink (unconfirmed) and toilet (black).

I've read that there are many RV's that have two gray tanks...

One main tank and another for a 1/2 bath or rear kitchen that basically drains into the main gray tank and also serves as an overflow for the main gray tank.

Perhaps yours is a similar setup.

You could call FR with your VIN# and they could tell you for sure.

Ok, this may just be that they put a panel indicator in, that goes nowhere.

According to the spec sheet, there is only 1 Gray and it's capacity 54 gallons.

Unless someone has different information.

if you only have one gray handled dump valve, then you have one gray tank. Factory specs state its 50 gals.

Like I mentioned above...

Call the Forest River customer service number with your VIN number and they can tell you exactly what your specific trailer left the factory with.

That is the best and only way to find out other than tearing the bottom off of your trailer and looking at the tanks.

Good advice. As mentioned earlier, my 5th wheel has 3 tanks, grey (bath sink & shower), galley (kitchen in middle of 5er), and black (toilet). My bathroom is located at the front of the drop behind the overbed portion of the 5er. All three tanks have separate valves (so I have 3 valves) but are all plumbed to the same dump. My panel has SIX tanks listed. They all appear the same even though 3 of the sites serve no purpose in my 5er. Grey 1 and 2, and Galley 1 and 2, and black 1 and 2. This is why I suggested BikerMikeyB has a generic control panel that allows for fewer panels to be built saving FR money
