27HFS Fuel and Generator

I'm debating between getting the 27HFS or Fun Finder XT-276. Anyone considered both and have an opinion either way?

One main differentiator for the 27HFS is the Fuel Station and Generator. Should I even consider these options in the 27HFS? It sounded like there may be some leak issues with the generator. What about the fuel station? (It's for hauling dirt bikes so I'm particularly interested if it's useful).

Always consider the mission. Since you are hauling dirt bikes I would assume the fuel station would be a huge convenience. Be aware that the genset may be a propane fueled unit and not a gasoline fueled one.

That is not always a problem for some folks. Propane units tend to be more reliable (less fuel related problems), though they produce a little less power than gasoline units (lower BTU content of the propane fuel). Further you may want to be sure if it has a propane genset that you have the larger propane bottles.

Check to see where the genset is located too. Some people do not like to have the genset near the bedroom. Other people do not care at all. One last concern, is the genset does consume some of the internal storage. So having the genset aboard is going to occupy a portion of your internal locker space.

The nice thing about internal gensets, is that they frequently come with remote start. This is very nice as you can leave the AC on while you are traveling. When you are about a half hour from a start you can remote start the genset, you trailer's AC will come online. Then when you stop, your trailer will already be cool.

Hello Gary , I too am looking at both of these toy haulers to . Let me know which one you chose and how it works out for you . I have been lookiing for both of these for the past year and the issue I have is the frame on the XLR trailers? Have you heard any info on that at all ? I dont know if it is just the 5th wheels that have issues or all of them . Also what kind of truck are you puling it with ? Thanks

Have not heard about the XLR frames. BTW, I have a strong suspicion that the XLR and Fun Finder are the same coach builder... They are literally identical.

I believe I'm going to go with the XLR. The onboard generator and fuel station tipped it for me (Thanks ng2951). The load capacity will be tight (particularly with the generator and fuel station).

Fortunately, haven't bought a truck yet, so have a lot of options. Was planning on an older Dodge 4x4 DRW. Particularly, in SoCal with the wind we can get I want the extra stability.

If it wasn't for the 30' overall limit in some campsites limit I'd get a Work and Play or an older Sportsmen 26P (31'-32'...).

The other option was to a traditional TT and put the bikes in the bed of the truck... I decided against that as I like the idea of being able to lock the bikes in he trailer if we take the truck away from where we camp.
