AC issues

Setup at the Florida Baptist DR warehouse in Leesburg. My wireless thermometer said 94 inside and out when I arrived. Cranked up the AC and it isn't cooling. It took 2 hrs to get down to 90 by then it was 89 outside... Its been running for nearly 5 hrs and it's at 80 inside... 77 outside. Water is condensing some and dripping off roof; but not as much as u would expect... air temp at the closest register is 71 degrees... I ran it most of the time with the vents bypassed... Opened them up then. The return air filter is 79 degrees. Not much difference... Anyone have an idea??

does the compressor run continuously? low voltage could cause it to cycle on and off. has the door stayed closed? its going to pull humidity at first...then cool. if humidity keeps coming in..like getting set up...it may take a while. you should get a 22 degree split in temp

If your seeing condensate run off the roof then I suspect the compressor is on and pulling the moisture out. If it's continuing to run condensate I would wait it out overnight. If you don't see anymore then maybe the compressor quit or it froze up.

8 degree split in temp. Compessor only stopped when I left it off for 15 min then turned back on. Not cycling. No, the doors have been closed all the time... It never (today) put out cold so I don't think it could be frozen. Its now 78 inside and 71 out. I'll be turning it off and using the Maxxair fans tonight ; soon; see how it goes tomorrow. Oh, I have a progressive protector its showing good voltage (118vac), no codes, and pulling abt 13 amps, with only the major appliance; the AC running.

Could just be a lot of load from the RV being closed up and so hot initially inside. If you get things cooled down tonight and under control I would see how it does tomorrow. It should have no problems with the cool nights and lower outside temps.

If you have a Dometic thermostat, make sure it is in proper mode, It is not the most intuitive operation. Check operating instructions here:

Thanks for the replies! Didn't get to check it today. But its not hot; a cool front came through. The vents are all I need. I was going to take off the shroud after the work day but it stormed. I have a gut feeling the outside fan isn't running, but won't know until I get on the roof. pH, I don't think I can run fan only. I can run ac fan with the furnace. Thanks flybob for the link.

I think your right WW. If it's making condensation, then the pump is running. Likely the fan not distributing the cold air it's making.

Bummer you have to call for the AC repair. But hopefully it's fixed soon.

Time to test out that nationwide service network... Let us know how it works. Haven't had anything I couldn't repair myself yet, but curious how it's handled if necessary.

Camper's Inn came through big time. I now have a new AC unit. They dropped what they were doing on Monday to take a look at it and ordered a new air conditioner ... It came in two days later and today they installed it in about 1 hour. Nice people and great service. This is Camper's Inn Jacksonville just off I-10. Hats off to Gator and Phyllis.

seeing a few threads here on new dometic acs. I just got 2 pallets of upper units yesterday. curious if the upper units are the issue or more into the install/electronic controls. hard to get closure on these boards in terms of what is the issue with these...

I feel so much better dealing with Gator since Campers Inn took over. That other yahoo they had as a service manager was a joke.
