Adding Generator

I just purchased a 2019 30HDS. It has the generator prep and is wired for 50amp.
I want to add the 5500 watt onboard generator but measuring the generator box it's only big enough for the 4000 watt model.
Is there a modification I can do to enlarge the box or am I stuck now with only being able to add a 4000 watt generator?

I know I can go to a portable generator but I purchased this particular model because it had the prewired option.

Take measurements. Is the space large enough to be modified for the 5500?

Do you need to change the size of the door/hatch to get it in?

My buddy was looking at generators for his rig (mid-bunk Jayco) and the bay was big enough for a 5500, but the door wasn’t. Without changing it out, he couldn’t stick it in.

My box measures 30.5 inches inside and the 5500 measures 33.5 inches also like you mentioned the hatch door is also too small.

Sounds like you’d be in for a big retro fit.

What are 1500 watts worth to ya?
