Fuel Station switch/relay operation

I have a 2015 XLR Hyperlite 27HFS with the fuel station for my ATV.

When I first got started using the station, the switch on the fuel gauge to start the pump seemed a little sketchy. What I mean is, you flip the switch to activate the pump, but to shut the pump off, it would take several times to get the pump to shut off.

This year, I was rinsing some mud off (with a squirt gun) the outside of the trailer after travelling down a muddy road to our campsite,. When I squirted the door of the switch/fuel gauge, the pump activated and wouldn’t shut off. I shut it off using the master switch inside the trailer. Now the switch will not do anything to start the fuel pump. In order to start the pump, I jumper the switch wires momentarily to start the pump. But, the only way to shut the pump off is to use the master switch inside.

So, now I am wondering how the shut off is supposed to work? Is the switch just supposed to activate the pump relay, which times out after 5 minutes? Or is it supposed to be able to shut it off as well?

Do I need a new relay module and a switch? Or just a switch?

Any info on how this is supposed to operate would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi
yes the main switch in the trailer powers the timed relay then the pump is turned on and off out side or until the timer on the relay times out or the switch inside is turned off.

You will have to check for power and verify the relay is working and the switch, see if you can get a wiring schematic that will help lots

On our 2017 29HFS, the inside switch powers the outside (under camper) relay that feeds the outside switch and the fuel gauge. The outside switch turns the pump on and starts the relay's timer. To shut it off before the timer does, hit the outside switch twice. I only turn the inside switch on when I am going to use the pump. I don't leave it on lest something goes wrong outside or someone wants to "borrow" fuel.

When we got our camper. the outside switch was not even connected. Whoever installed the relay mounted it too far from the outside switch that the wire wouldn't reach, so they just didn't hook it up.
