Furnace operation

I read on the forum that the furnace runs on 12 volts. Is there a way to run the furnace while boondockng without 110v to power the thermostat with the controls?

My thermostat works on 12 volts. Use it if I stop for the night not in a CG. Works in between trips in the winter with heat set at 40 degrees.

The furnace is 100% 12 volts DC and AC power is not part of the equation. The only thing that changes when shore power is connected is that the 12 volts from the converter supplements the battery (via charging) or supplies all the 12 volts required.

Huh? Furnace needs 12VDC for the fan, ignition and thermostat operation. 120VAC is not needed. But a furnace can kill a decent battery in one night. So you will need a way to recharge your battery each day

I'll check it out tomorrow. When the tt the thermostat is blank. But c one to think about it it's always in the off position when I unplug. I'll try turning it on with just the 12v in the morning.

Plugging and unplugging the line cord should be done with zero load on the camper to avoid sparks at the plug blades that will pit and overheat the connection.

I do this by turning off the breaker, either at the plug (shore power side) or the camper's main breaker (inside the camper). Once you are connected, then you just reset the breaker you switched off.

Checked this am. Furnace does work all on 12v. Thanks everyone

Or have a progressive EMS, it delays turn on about 10 sec.
