Heat while traveling

Leaving in a few days for Texas with my XLR HFS27 (2012). Does anyone advise running with the furnace on. We'll be hitting the frost line in about 7 hours. (Topeka KS) Looks like low teens when we leave Minnesota. Trailer is winterized so not worried about it, it's just other things we'd like to take. Water, pop, and road food. If I warm it to 70 and shut it down before we leave, do you think it will stay above freezing till we hit warmer weather?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I've not personally run the furnace while traveling but know and read of many that do.

As for heating the R/V prior and traveling, how fast it cools down depends on a lot of factors such as actual ambient temperature and how well your rig is insulated.

Just remember, things don't freeze the instant the temperature reaches freezing. It can take many hours at or below freezing for items to freeze.

I've run with the furnace on if I know we will be stopping soon and it is cold.

I've accidentally ran with the furnace on (forgot to turn it off before leaving somewhere). I am nervous about it as a couple of my vents are covered by slides.

Thanks for the tips. Looks like first day travel will be mid 30s. Think I'll just have it warm when we leave and keep anything that could freeze in the fridge and a big cooler. Second day we're into the 50s, and arriving at destination the 3rd day in th 70s. Problem solved. I'll repost if I run into any problems.

Texas above I-10 to cold. Had to go further south to Harlingen last winter. Now in Fl. 72
