New 36DSX13 Owner
Hello. Just wanted to introduce myself. We just picked up a 2019 XLR Boost 36DSX13 this weekend, after owning a Palomino Puma Unleashed 27-SBU bumper pull for 7 years.
We were looking at the 37TSX13 but decided on the 36 instead for a number of reasons, the biggest being my 3/4 Dodge could haul it no problem, where the 37 would have been pushing, if not exceeding, my pin weight limit. There was also the monetary savings as well.
My wife and I travel a few times a year with both our motorcycles, so it will be nice to have a dedicated garage instead of having to move most of the furniture just to load the bikes. We also have friends along frequently, so the 1/2 bath is another great addition.
I have run across a few issues/questions that you fine folks might have some insight into.
The first is the awning. I really liked the fact that the 37TSX13 had two awnings, one on each side of the slide, giving you lots of shade to sit under. The 36DSX13 only has one awning, most of which is taken up by the slide. The dealer suggested this was a good thing, as it would keep the top of the slide clean. I extended it today for the first time and my initial impression is that the corners of the slide are going to wear through the awning pretty quick. Most of the awning is useless, except as a way to keep rain off the doorways as there is no real room to sit under it. You also can't really it angle it much for watershed, as it rests on top of the slide.
The second problem might have been dealer induced. The generator start switch is on the right as you face the stairs to the bedroom. Today my wife noticed the switch was sticking out of the wall a good half inch. Investigating the problem I found that it would not seat properly as the wall cavity isn't deep enough to house the switch. Had they installed it below the awning control, there would have been an entire cabinet. Putting it on the outside wall however there just isn't room for it. My solution was to tape all the connections (they were just spade connectors) and bend them over as much as I could. This allowed the switch to fit better, but it still won't seat completely. I might have to find some 90degree insulated connectors to see if that will work.
The last thing I found odd, and it applies to the 37TSX13 as well I believe, is the unit has two black tanks, but the black tank flush is only connected to the front one. One thing I was looking forward to when upgrading to a new unit was a built in flush, but I guess I'll still have to carry around my wand to flush the back tank.
