Safety Chain connection

Has anyone moved where their safety chains attach to the tongue of the trailer? Noticed today that my Equalizer hitch contacts the safety chains where they are mounted to the tongue of the camper when I am back up and turning hard.

Also, I think the little round stock loop they are attached to is not that strong.

I am considering a bolted connection to the trailer tongue. Any thoughts?

Mine seems fine, Steve. The Andersen hitch stays in the same orientation, no matter the turn... no bars to do anything bad. If trailer and truck part company, I don't think this hardware will survive for more than a few feet. Hopefully, I never get to test that theory. If I had to change it, I like the looks of this setup.
