Things to do in Hamilton, OH....

....Since we're picking up our new TH later this week!!!!! We plan to stay in Columbus the night before to try Melt Bar & Grilled (saw it on Diners, Drive Ins & Dives), then head to Couch's in Hamilton in the morning to take delivery. I think we may try to stay on the lot that night to check for any issues with the TH before heading back home to NC. So, anyone familiar with the area have any suggestions for things to do in or around Hamilton? We are beyond excited!!!!

Nothing... We did the same and stayed in their lot overnight. Hit Texas Roadhouse for dinner and got back to the lot quick. Hamilton is not a sightseeing place. Have fun with the trip though!

Now you have me wondering if I should pack something besides my hairdryer Any tips for things to do and check for while staying on the lot? We'd like to give it a good "going over" to try to find any issues before leaving the lot.

You are basically in Cincinnati and lots of things to do there. Lots of good places to eat on the river across the pedisterian bridge in Newport Ky. Lots of museums in Cincinnati. Great zoo, great aquarium in Newport, great river walk, just stay out of the Over the Rhine area.

I packed something kind of shaped like a hairdryer if that helps...

As to your PDI, do a Google search. There are some good lists out there. Go over it at home as lots won't apply to your rig. Add things you've thought of that aren't on the list. Then, the most important part is this. Don't get super excited taking delivery and skip any steps! It's so easy to do getting caught up in the moment.

We did the same thing. Spent an hour or two at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park - kinda cool if you like art.

Yes, the yard is fenced but it doesn't stop the bad element looking for flat screens to feed their habit. So, they have a full time night security guard who comes through in his golf cart all night long keeping an eye on things. He's very nice. Oh, and one more tip I forgot... The trains! Couch's abuts the railroad and where you park is about 100 feet from the tracks. This isn't so bad and the rhythmic sound of a train can actually be relaxing... except... Couch's is also a full block property between two cross roads. So, the trains that come through every 30 minutes like clockwork blow their horns not once but twice as they approach each intersection/crossing. Bring a Benadryl and/or some adult beverages... LOL.

Make sure you say hi to Brannon and Jeff for me. I go by Rodney in the real world...

As others have said, not much there, and it's a good little haul to Cincy. You can go south on route 4 to Fairfield and make a stop at Jungle Jims. It's a 200,000 square feet supermarket and a sight to see! Further south on 4 and you'll come to Tri-County Mall and 1 exit west on 270 is a Bass Pro Shop.

If you have the time go to Dayton and go to the National Museum of the US Air Force (Google the information). You can spend several days there and still not see it all. Admission is free (donations welcomed). It is located on the South side of Wright Patterson AFB in NE Dayton.

For meals. try some Cincinnati style chili. Get it at a Gold Star or Skyline Restaurant, they are located all over SW Ohio. Get the 3 or 4 way and be sure to wear a bib if you don't want to have spaghetti sauce all over yourself (ask me how I know). Another great place to eat is the Montgomery Inn just off of I-71 in the Cincinnati suburb of Montgomery. Some of the best BBQ ribs you will ever have, even if you are from NC.

Dayton was a very neat place to visit and so was the USAF Museum.. A must see!

When were in that area we visit the horseshoe casino in Cincinnati. There's another casino nearer to couches in Middletown right on 75 called Miami valley gaming.

If you are looking for a restaurants, there is 2 good pizza places on the west side of Hamilton, LaRosa and Richard's. There is a drive in movie that is open all year long if you are looking for something to do in the evening.
Also about the trains they aren't that bad right now. Maybe 7 to 10 trains a day. I know about the trains cause I live close to the tracks.
And Jungle Jim's is really neat place to see. If they don't have what you want in groceries, nobody will.

We live in the Cincinnati area, although I have not been to Couch's here are a few recommendations:

a. If you don't want to overnight at Couch's, Winton Woods park has pull-through sites with full hookups (might want to check and see if their water is still turned on due to winter weather). Winton Woods is probably a 15-20 minute drive from Couch's - might also be able to get a better night's sleep!

b. If you like good seafood, Pappadeaux Restaurant is just off I-275. Their fried gulf shrimp is highly recommended.

c. If you are into cooking, Jungle Jim's is not to be missed. You will need a map to get around their store that has everything from live fish, to food items from all over the world.

d. If you want to shop, go to Kenwood Mall, located on I-71, for stores like Nordstrom's, Macy's, etc.

e. As others have indicated, you also have the Air Force Museum at Dayton - just up I-75, Bass Pro on I-275, and a new Cabela's on I-75. The RV dealership that used to be called Tom Raper has become a Camping World, if you are interested in them. Horseshoe Casino is in downtown Cincinnati and has the normal table games, slots, etc. along with a Bobby Flay Burger restaurant that's pretty good. If you decide to try Cincinnati bar-b-q, Montgomery Inn is good - might want to try their Boathouse location downtown on the river.
