Tripods

We have a 5th wheel toy hauler. We have noticed other same owners who have a tripod in the front under & attached to the kingpin. We also saw two smaller ones in back under the back garage. What is the purpose for the tripods? Does it help the trailer to not move as much when parked/leveled? We have auto landing gear (auto leveling), so not sure of their use for us.

Tri Pods

Yes the tripod on the front takes away the jiggle when a second person is walking around the trailer. I just purchased two scissor jacks to assist with my patio deck on the back to help a little more. Yes both of these help.

Tim Coltrain and well worth the money.

FYI

When we pack up to go home the wife tells me you have removed the tripod haven't you. I said yes. She said I can tell exactly when you have removed it due to the jiggle. The past week I purchased two 30" scissors to go on the back corners of my 5th wheel to help take a little more jiggle out of the back when she is on the patio deck. This is the tri pod I bought. I'm pretty sure there are more expensive ones or better ones. So, I went on the less expensive side to test first and so far I'm happy with this one. It comes with jacking legs and a lock to secure. One other thing is get the wheel locks will also take out movement to.

You may want to do a search for 5th wheel king pin tripods/supports before you spend any money.
It is an often discussed topic with hundreds of divided opinions on results.

Good idea. I'm still trying to figure out the search option of this blog.

Hi,

People either favor them or think they are junk.

I'm inclined to the view that they do help on my Silverback.

But I get as much -- or perhaps even more -- stability from additional screw jacks just forward of my wheels.

FWIW.
