Water fill valve stuck?

So for the last year or two I seem to have a problem where no matter if I move the blue switch to city water or tank, it just fills the tank regardless. I’m assuming the valve failed, but what is the key phrase I need to look for, or does anyone have a link to an upgraded one?

before assuming that valve has failed you need to ensure the check valve at your potable water pump is not stuck open. your description of the problem would lead me there first.

The water pump under the sink? How would I go about checking to see if that failed ? It does pump water up from the tank, but I don’t see how that would could be a cause?

Your pump has an internal check valve that should close when you connect city water if it is stuck open or not closing tightly then city water will back flow into the tank. Here is what I would do. with water in the potable water tank I would disconnect (not just shut off) the city water connection turn on the pump make pressure then turn it off and open a faucet to drain all pressure off. Then with the pump off I would reconnect the city water and open it fully to set the check valve. If that fails I would pull the pump and bench test it and go from there.

disconnect the suction side of the pump when hooked to city water and see if you get water coming in from the pump . if not then back to your andersen valve . they are made of cheap plastic and can easily leak by

I’ll give those troubleshooting shots a try! It would have been nice to try at the campsite since I had full hookup but my time was done. The next time I plan to use it is for hunting season during Thanksgiving time frame.

If it is the pump, any recommendations on an upgrade? Or if it’s the valve, any recommendations on which to get for that?
