Water heater switch

In my 375 AMP XLR Thunderbolt, there is a water heater switch on the control panel. There is also an on-off switch outside the coach under the water heater Grill. Which one operates the gas and which one operates the electricity? If the gas is turned off will it automatically default to electricity?

If you only have one switch inside, it is for gas.
The switch outside is for 120v operation.
You can use one, the other or both for quicker recovery.
Be SURE your water heater has water in it BEFORE turning on the 120v switch.
It will burn out the element if it doesn't have water in it.

wmtire will be along shortly with several good links to water heater operation.

The one on your control panel will be for the propane and the one behind the grill of the heater is for the electric element. They operate independent of each other although you can run the gas and electric at the same time with no problem - helps to heat the water quicker.

The inside switch turns on the propane side. The 12V supply ( battery or converter) must be good as it runs the control board. The outside switch turns on the electric element. You must be connected to 120VAC. You can run either or both ( quicker recovery) but there is no switch over. If the unit is new and never run WH on propane, it may take a few times to light while air is purged from lines.
