Happy Old Camper

We've had this Shockwave for almost eight years and I've been lifting that heavy back door/loading ramp by hand all these years.

A friend of ours just bought a new to him Jayco toy hauler and the previous owner had installed a Harbor Freight winch to pull the door up.

I looked this install over and thought to myself, I've got all those parts in my shop at home. I had bought the exact same 2500lb winch a few years ago, didn't have a need for it at that time. It was on sale for under $40, felt like I couldn't pass it up. The pulley and the wire to run to the batteries were the only things I thought I may have to buy. Turned out the only thing I have had to buy was the 8 gauge wire to run to the batteries.

Right now until I get the wire I have a spare battery sitting in the back of the trailer to run the winch. Oh, it is sooo great for an eighty year old pair of campers who love boon docking and running around in their Polaris RZR.

I'm wondering why I didn't do this when we bought the camper new in 16.

Just put this out there because it has made me feel so good.
We love camping in our Shockwave!

That's amazing that you had all the parts, except for the wires, in your shop.
That modification is going to make your camping a lot more enjoyable.
Thanks for sharing.
