The opening above the stereo?

In the TH there is an opening above the stereo but no lip for like storage. what is the opening for. We went to the rv show here in Spokane wa last weekend and I asked a dealer that was in a shockwave and he said that it was a docking station for iphone, ipods, etc. Its an option? I never heard of such a thing there are no wires or nothing just an opening wood all the way around. I will add a picture as soon as we get one when the snow goes away

I have a sand storm with the same opening. I never was told that before. We just put things up there when we get to camp because like you said there isn't a lip so if you put something there when traveling it falls out.
