Attaching the patio cables to top bracket above door on toy hauler

So I have the patio cables with an oval metal carabiner style ring with a metal locking screwable nut type thing that I am not sure how to connect to the top bracket on the back door opening. It does slide in side ways and fits no problem, but I thought you would need to have it loop through then attach the cable on the other side but the metal carabiner thing will not go into the hole this way. Frustrating. I did try to slide from the top with the metal nut screwed down , but that does not work either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated -- or pics to help me me figure this out.
LOL It shouldnt be that hard right.

Thanks for the help ---you can laugh as well.... I am. But still need it attached properly.

Not sure if this will help you or not, but here's a pic of how mine attach on my Wolf Pack.

You can probably just open the hole up with a drill bit.

Read your post this AM, and came home this PM and took a pic (attached) to send, but see someone beat me to it! I had to do similar on our Shockwave 5th wheeler - I think the holes were drilled before painting. I recall using a drill to make the caribiners fit through the hole.
