Just can't win
So I head out to finally pick my trailer up. It has been at Giant RV in Montclair, CA for 8 weeks, and was there before for the same problems at the beginning of the year for 3 weeks. I had decided to go pick it up to use it, hence the second round of being there for the same problems. In that first 3 weeks nothing had been repaired, and after speaking to them on the phone telling them I was going to come get it to use it, the guy said he'd bandaid a problem so it would be usable for me. Mind you the paperwork said it would be "promised for return in 3 weeks". I get there today, amazingly most problems had actually been fixed, however one remained and another had arose.
One of the radius edges of the ramp door had a 1/8 gap from where it met the trailer, when closed. That problem was fixed however, coincidentally there was the beginning of a tear in the weld of part of the framing right next to it...
The emergency window on the roadside over the fold up couch would not open originally, this window never got touched, but the roadside window in the kitchen was replaced. Mind you I've never had a problem opening or closing this window.
And so I left it there....again.....

sucks when the dealers don't give a crap , seems you either end up with a good unit or you end up with a lemon . I've been lucky so far

Most of the time my dealer does a good job but a couple of times they have pushed my rig to the back of the yard when the million dollar coaches show up wanting immediate service. I understand it makes business sense but still chaps my a**.

Yea it was talked about before in another thread that it seemed as tho the service we get correlates to the amount of money spent. Pretty sad because I'm sure I could recommend many more customers to them and be happier to spend more money if I wasn't lied to and treated like I actually mattered. But oh well, I'll be sure to take money else where when it comes time to upgrade and tell everyone I know, and spread the word, to steer clear of this place.

Sucks man. On a different note, I was just down in Anaheim for a few days at Disneyland. Didn't know Giant was so close. I really hope you get the issues ironed out quick. They really are great looking, amazing floorplan toy haulers. Not so great though if you can't enjoy it.

Yea it's just they don't listen, I asked them if down the road I could come in when I was loaded up full to scale the tongue...that somehow translated into "scale the tongue now" which, by the way Polarisguy, is 1300# with what looked like to have about 3/4 of fresh water in the tank...
They installed a latch on one of the kitchen drawers to keep it closed instead of installing new guides
The first set of paperwork clearly states the window with issues was the roadside window above the couch (not the kitchen window)
Just so frusturating I don't even want to waste my breath anymore, just want it back, with the correct window fixed and I'm good. I'll deal wit the rest myself

Yeah I was actually guessing around 1300 to be honest. We are still going to go with the 1400 wd system but honestly our 1000 wd system worked really really well on the first trip. We'd rather be safe then sorry though. The Ford PSD also did fantastic too.

Ask them for a different service writer. I had similar issues at their Colton location and the problem was my service writer. Once they switched my service writer all has been good with them.

I too went through a few service writers in Colton. None of them are bad per se, but there are a couple that don't seem to accurately transfer what they hear from customers into meaningful actions by the techs. I also had the door gap problem. It was never fixed, and I just deal with silt/dust pouring in when off-highway. The last time it was at GiantRV, the explanation was that the "door is solid, strong material' and that the "box frame will flex, and not always be square depending on load, angle etc.
It's no longer in warranty and it's amazing how the quality and speed of repairs has improved - now that I'm doing them myself.

This is actually very interesting. My Dad was following me on our last outing and he was pulling his TH. He said that he could physically see my unit "shifting" in the rear as to almost flex and adjust by itself. I don't have the light bleed issues though yet.

OKay that's crazy. Now I know exactly where to look on ours too. Thanks for the pic. I'm pretty sure I have looked there but as I said, that's crazy man.

A couple of four foot levels might answer that question, lower the ramp to level with the inside floor.
Have a helper hold one level from one side to the middle, you do the same from the other side are the levels the same height in the middle?

I was telling PolarisGuy that upon inspection of the inside of the "bumper" rail where the brackets of the door bolt to the bumper rail, that there are slotted holes for adjustment. But half of the nuts that were installed by the dealer or factory are cattywhompuss and crooked and halfway falling into the slotted holes since they didnt use washers........if any of that makes sense...
Like I said ill have to take more pictures tomorrow...I hope I can re-adjust/re-center it myself, put some washers on or maybe even some serrated flange nuts to keep them from sliding around in the slotted holes that they are bolted to and see if that holds.
Maybe my brain is just not working today but can you ellaborate on a bent frame rail...and how that would cause this? I cant picture what you are saying LOL

I edited the picture and turned it upright, added a couple doo-dads and an arrow to make my explanations easier and my head hurt less
The gap there is non existent on the other side. The door actually rubs the black metal frame of the door opening on that other side. When Giant RV "fixed" it...it seemed like they did as i mentioned above...re-centered the door and called it a day, fixing the gap (until our 2k mi round trip "unfixed" it) but reinstalled the ****-ass hardware with no washers....
pardon me...1,000 miles unfixed it, since when we arrived is when i found the gap again

You can check for bent door all by yourself with a piece of mason's dry line.... a Quickgrip or any clamp - pinch dry line to one edge of door and pull taught to other side... you will see any bowing right away... I would look front to rear, left to right and then in a X from corner to corner...

Aw perfect! Didn't even think about using dry line. I've got a roll in the garage!
Thanks!

Kind of hard to see the slotted holes but they're there and the nuts are somewhat inside them...I'm thinking a couple of serrated flange nuts will keep it held in place once re-centering it again
Stupid picture is upside down...
