Stealth SS2216 Shower Drain Question... Please Help!

I'm really embarassed to ask this question:

How do you work the drain plug on the shower of the 2013 Stealth SS2216 toy hauler? We just took ours out for the first time, and I took a shower. I can't get the drain plug to lift so that the water can drain adequately... It eventually drained out, but I just don't think that's the way it is supposed to work.

I hope someone can help me. It should be such a simple thing, but I can't find anything about it anywhere!!!

When you pick it up, rotate it a bit and it should lock up in the open position.

Ok, proper application of force worked (pliers and a towel plus some muscle pulling straight up).
